OT-- FAVORITE PARTY BAND of ALL TIME???

Postby lights1961 » Sat Jan 27, 2007 7:46 am

With Van Halen's press release bragging about being America's all time party band?

Is it true? Or do you have your own choice or opinion...

My all time favorite party bands would be as follows....

Beach Boys, great surfing music for parties on the beach, old scool
Bon Jovi, during their day... can you say crank it up!! hair bands..
Motley Crue---Just loud and crude hair bands...
Journey for my own biased reason, arena rock...
Then Van Halen... arena rock
if you wanted a darker edge party, Pink Floyd....

Rock party situation:Judas Priest first couple hours.Transition to Van Halen,Scorpions and Heart, then slowly slipping to Dire Straits, after major boo-ing.
3 thirds into the party people were digging Billky Ray Cirus's "Achy Breaky Heart" and Bananarama. I left.

Great choices Rick!

But then I just finished listening to VH "Finish what ya started" on the radio. One of my fav songs of theirs. I sooooooo wanted to turn it up, but don't think the co-workers in the offices on either side of me would like that.

Well he may, he's a great singer, just wasn't good fit for VH.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

I think he's kidding you. (I hope so anyway)

I think they meant the band itself. But to play along, I'd have to honestly say Journey. From personal experience, whenever I put on a Journey 'shuffle" I always hear "Good song, dude" and "Who sings this song?" They're the perfect band for parties. They have ballads, great mid tempo songs and rockers. Couple that with "Oh Sherrie" and "Foolish heart" and you're all set.

If you have to brag about anything, you ain't all that.

Boy, I loved seeing VH so trashed on stage that Dave couldn't sing, much less talk, and Ed fell over himself more then once; but Michael Anthony does have a Jack Daniels Bass! Rock on dude! These guys rock! They party!

That is their moniker, huh? Party band? I thought Cheap Trick was a party band?

I can see it now:

"Van Halen, Pioneering Americas' party bands"= as they are inducted into the HOF.

Meanwhile, Journey with 3 times the hits, and twice the talent, sit on the sidelines and get dick.

party bands

Postby cejudonomas » Sun Jan 28, 2007 12:05 am

Some bands to consider not on the list. - Tatantula, Pretty Maids, PowerGod, Black Majesty, racerX, Brainstorm, Symphorce, Pink Cream 69, Dream Evil. A good dsc to spin at the party is Pretty Maids last live ablum (live in japan & Europe). I put P.M. on my speakers and people so woah, Wow, who is that? I say Prettey Miads, The say Oh I never heard of them, are they a new band, nope 20 years as a band, shame they get no airplay in the states.

I'd go with whoever Sammy Hagar is playing with, either with Van Halen, or with the Wabos.

Many years ago, I would have said Twisted Sister.
