I'm very surprised that Sundance got cut over that feminine Boy George wanna be.....Not to mention, that Sabrina Sloan had and HAS a voice that many would kill for. Not sure what America is listening too....Like Simon said, America must have the sound turned down......

I guess votefortheworst.com didn't alter the votes tonight. They had up Antonella and Sundance and both got sent packing.

I hope Sanjaya doesn't hang around past one episode.

the people voted...but, Sundance did not have enough fans... :( Simon should make an executive decision and bring him back.... Heck its their show... cant they do what they want...and they did that in season three I think---if memory serves me right.

He was one of my favorites. He picked the wrong song this week, though. He just doesn't have the "growl" in his voice to pull off Pearl Jam. Chris Daughtry would have nailed that song, but Sundance doesn't have that kind of voice. He seemed like a really cool guy, too.

The only one they definitely got right tonite was Antonella. America fucked up big time in keeping Sanjaya. Even he thinks so. I figured Sundance would go another couple of weeks although he's been hot & cold some weeks. They had to get rid of 2 guys so it was between him, Jared, Phil & Brandon. I just never thought that fool Sanjaya would be in the top 12. I can't believe Sabrina is gone. My husband walked by as that happened & said "America did't like her?" I figured it would be Haley or Jordin, not Sabrina.

So here's the thing, it seems if the judges give someone a really hard time (Haley & Sanjaya), America votes for them. Next week, shut up judges.

That guy Sanjaya simply can't sing to save his life. I thought he should have gone home weeks ago, so I have no idea what's going on here!

Yeah, she is damn good, and her shocked face as the judges rave about her each week is pretty funny.

I didn't watch last night, but saw the highlights this morning. Sabrina's face when she got voted out was evil as hell. Did you see that?

Yeah, she was pissed--the only reason i can see america not voting for her was --she had a strange look to her, i couldnt quite put my finger on it, but i think it was the shape of her head(i know that sounds strange) she also at times looked angry compared to the other girls(some of the girls with less talent had a softer look to them)

I caught a bit of this on UK tv last week.
Is Sundance the large guy with the little beard?

And is Melinda the one who sang 'My Funny Valentine?' If so - she should win IMO.
Some of her low notes on that were sublime. Very Sarah Vaughan, I thought.

U have AI in the UK? What is the world coming to? Actually I think my cousin in Leeds told me the show originated over there as Pop Idol or something. So I guess we can blame u Brits.

Yes to both contestants. I agree Melinda is the BEST especially cos of her humble attitude. U ought to hear this week's performance. Even better. But Lakisha is a close second.

And Lakisha did 'Midnight Train To Georgia?' - yep, we have the same taste.
She was good, too.

And yep an English guy named Simon Fuller 'created' this version of a talent show over here.
Simon Cowell adapted it, and brought it to you guys. Simon Fuller sued him for stealing his format and now gets his name all over the credits and a HUGE amount of money for doing nothing. :) :)

We get the show tonight, so I'll record it and watch it later.
I haven't sussed out who everyone is yet, because last week's was the first one I'd seen. But I only caught the girl's performances.

The 'My Funny Valentine' singer was pretty impressive, I thought.

Yes that was Lakisha. I want Simon Fuller's job. How come I can never invent something that makes me a fortune?

Don't stress over sussing out all the contestants. It will ultimately come down to Melinda & Lakisha barring some fluke. For the guys, Chris Sligh is the best (he's heavyset w/a wild mop of curly hair). Blake (blond funky guy) is interesting. But that's about it.

Some people just have the knack for making money. The Fuller guy was behind the Spice Girl's success. Made rather a lot of money out of that little creation, too.

I've seen a picture of the mop haired guy. He's a bit like Jack Osborne, only larger, yes?
Don't know who the other guy is, though.
I shall watch out for him.
I think the men are on at 9pm [UK time] tonight so I'll have a look.
I only heard Melinda sing a few notes and marked her ten out of ten!
And when I heard her sing that first really low note, I got goosebumps.
Even if she doesn't win, I'm sure she'll have a career out of this.

Well Randy thinks one of 'em sounds like Steve Perry on his high notes.

I just watched it. The guy in the hat - dunno his name.
And Randy needs his ears syringeing if you ask me.

some people need to get their info on how AI came about...

That said, Sabrina knew what was coming, you could see it on her face, and I agree and have said many a time before that the judges pick on someone, and they get saved. They got Antonella right, hot as she looks, she's a bad singer and distraction to boot. I wouldn't be surprised to find out at some point that her own friends are the ones that let the pics out of her. Chris Sligh is the best male singer overall this year, but not enough to make me watch religiously like i did last year when Taylor was singing. I just get the feeling that Sanjaya just wants to be his sisters twin and that's about it. She had a much better voice to me than he did and would have lasted much longer I'm sure. Sure the pressure can get to you (if you've ever done any talent show you know this), but a lot of these people this year just aren't very good. And to think (again) that they hyped this as the BEST YEAR YET for contestants.

Now, as far as the thing they announced last night, Hows about they use ALL of the resources for their pledge to help people in the U.S. only? It's hip and even a nice thing to do, to help in Africa, but in case people aren't aware, we have some pretty bad problems with homelessness and other people who've gone through some rough times, right here in the States. "we're" always willing to help someone else, rather than our own, it seems like.
Without ego, we have no pride in what we are saying.

Sundance sucks. His pitch is all over the place. Terrible. Only guys worth watching are Osbourne's kid and
Blake . The rest SUCK. If the little black shy gal doesn't win the whole thing, then the show is a joke. Just like Hicks won last year. HICKS? Are you shitting me? Daughtry kicked his ass.

This is the first AI I've seen, so I can't comment on previous years.

However,Jennifer Hudson's Academy Award proves that you don't have to win the show to get a career.

My money's on Melinda.
Seems nice.
Sings well.
As you've all said, the guys are pretty weak in comparison.
