If you ever visit this state, bring tons of repellant, and about 2200 dollars for toll booths. Every fuckin 3 miles, pull over and pay the troll in the toll hut. Goddamned annoying.

Flying over the state, there are lakes, that look like giant potholes, every 2 miles. Florida is more H20 than Earth.

Outta here in an hour. Getting on in Winter Haven, and rollin' to Granny and Norms. Who is showing up in Alexandria on the 31st?

Sad but true. There's a guy I work with that drives to south Florida for tank inspections and he takes the Turnpike. When he goes to turn in his expense form, 3/4 of his receipts are from tolls. LOL!

All of Florida is for the birds, literally.

This is Heaven on earth!

Welcome to Michigan, the Great Lake state. Michigan is quite unique among the states in that it is divided into two distint geographic sections, the Upper peninsula, and the Lower peninsula. Lake Michigan lies between the two peninsulas. The Upper peninsula is very sparsely populated, more than 90% of the peninsula being forested. The Lower peninsula contains the cities, industry, and agriculture. The Upper and Lower Peninsulas were connected in 1957 with the construction of Big Mac, the Mackinac Bridge.

Almost half of Michigan is comprised of water and, except for Alaska, Michigan has more shoreline than any other state, fronting four of the Great Lakes: Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie. With 3,177 miles of Great Lakes shoreline it is easy to see why Michigan boasts a thriving recreational industry, and leads the nation with approximately one million registered pleasure boats.

The repellant is for the Florida state bird- the mosquito. As well as all the other lovely & LARGE bugs we have here, lol.

Sorry SPH & I had too busy a weekend with the husbands & kids, but I did get your message about looking for my house near a pond of gators  lol. Yes, the tolls are awful, been paying those damn things for the last 15 years

Hope the rest of your trip is a safe one 8)

I'll pass the info onto Dean, Sherrie.

At this point though I'm wishing I had not encouraged him to go and wish he were on his way home now :( .

I know you do Lu. I don't know if I could have been as understanding and selfless as you are. If he needs a place to crash in southern VA though I'll give him a clean bed and a good meal before I send him up to Alexandria. (He may have to hug a couple grandkids along the way though.) :D

Travel update from Dean-

On the train to Granny's. Just out of Savannah on a curve at 76 mph the train struck a herd of cattle. Waited on cops and are on the move after a 25 min delay.

He also says "Good luck to the Ducks!!" 8)
