Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Postby cstarr » Thu Jun 07, 2007 5:55 am

Hi everyone,

Being new around here, I don't know the majority of you. I know Dean & Lula whom I find to both be fantastic people and I am acquainted with Liam and AR.
I enjoy coming in here and reading about Journey and the for the most part the topics are at the very least entertaining - especially the Sports and Booze thread (great job Liam) as I am a fan of both and there seem to be some good folks there. Seems to be most people here bring something to the table whether it be passion for the band, knowledge of the industry, regular life chats or just a rant - all well and good. Some good people with a few 'bad apples' (as Tony Stewart would say) thrown in to keep it interesting. Fine.
As an outsider I hope you can appreciate my view of what this has turned into lately... Romper Room on Saturday mornings.
My hope in posting this thread is that instead of taking a topic and turning it into some pissing match or crying because someone hurt your feelings, that you will use this as the "I want to bitch, moan & whine thread".
So, either get a backbone and take it as well as it's dished or complain here, fight here, address all the racism, political, discrimination, bullshit you want to HERE, but don't fuck up a perfectly decent thread for 6+ pages!
At the very least maybe this can serve as a way to tell Andrew openly in public instead of wasting his time with such petty nonsense on a PM.
I enjoy Journey with JSS, I enjoy reading here and I enjoy seeing all the opinions and different views but I am tired of the girly hair pulling among grown men and women!
This is a good place and I applaud most of you for what you bring but for the few that seem to get on everyone's last nerve, quit fucking it up, get with the program, or get off the board!

Hi Granny - have heard alot of wonderful things about you! :)
Tony Stewart is a Nascar driver. He referred to a fellow driver this past weekend as a 'bad apple' and it seemed to apply to a few people here as well.
Dean will try to tell you Jimmie Johnson is the best being that he is a bandwagon fan of his but I am sure you have learned - it's best not to believe much of what Dean says.

You're right. Being a champion allows for no validation at all. Jimmie Johnson is defending champion and leads in wins this year. Tony Stewart is fat, and has zero wins. Do the math.

Say Carmen, who has been saying nice things about Granny?

Lmao!!! That was funny

Tony Stewart is a great driver, but also a bully and a very bad sport.

I especially love when he gets spitting mad at a driver who simply out drove him to get past him. In other words, out Tony Stewarted him...

Now for my turn to get clobbered, lol

I am a long time fan of the California pretty boy, Jeff Gordon - Probably the smartest driver out there. Also really love JR, probably the coolest, imo.

Gordon taught Jimmie everything (even found him a very pretty wife),
so Jimmie Johnson is sort of a Gordonlite to me  :P

I love Tony actually. I like his pissed off attitude.

Are you high? Gordon is a pretty boy, and JR is the dumbest sumbitch on the track.

Too bad JJ is the better driver. I hate Gordon.

I'm my own favorite driver. I'm really good at stopping for red lights, and I hit the I-95 exit ramps particularly well.

Of course you do, he's the RocknDeano of NASCAR!
(and I can't say I love him, but I DO love his aggressive style of racing - for the most part)

on life! & Nothing wrong with being pretty - doesn't mean he's not also a great driver. & I used to think that ie JR, but he surprises me every time he does an "in-depth" interview. He's a lot more open-minded than 90% of his fans, that's for sure. He's growing on me. & I LOVE his bud commercial with the mad max guys chasing his car... very funny!

Oh, cstarr, how true, but we love our Dean...he is one of a kind, thank god, j/k Dean...

Now I know why I didn't know who he was, I don't follow nascar....

Yeah, I have been a fan of the sport for 3 years. Is it my fault he has won more races than any other driver in the last 5 years?

Nope. if the Chase starts today, the 48 is in 1st. They give more credence to wins. 48 has 4, the 24 has 3. the 48 should have 6.....

lol, true! But 24 is just warming up....

and while I actually think more wins should mean no. 1, I'm enjoying Nascar's illogical thinking for once.. :D

 game over if you're watching the booth, lol. But if you're watching the races, well, I don't hear any fat ladies, yet, but I'll put something on the table (not someone...) that 24 will still be on top at the end. I'd also bet 48 will be his one and only contender for the title.

Agreed. it's a two car race, but after seeing what a puss Gordon was in NOT moving the 48 at Martinsville, Johnson is the guy to beat.

LMAO! I agree with you there. I was so pissed. Fuck the bigger picture thing! Gordon had the best car that day, and he should have moved 48's ass. (obviously, I'm still not quite over it, yet, lol)
Which is my biggest complaint about the chase. People are "big picture" driving - racing for points instead of to win, & I want them all to drive to win, damn it! (I think Tony is the best at the "get the fuck out of my way, I want to win at any cost," driving. It's not always the smartest strategy, but it's fun to watch.)

(So, in reality, it should be 24 w/4 wins & 48 with 3... )
