as much as i love the strange medicine album, it's really more low-key and emotional...even though street talk was too. but it did have some of that rockin' journey sound.

i really like go away from street talk.

There are so many..."One More Time" gets my vote.

After the Fall
Anyway
Don't Stop Believin'
I Stand Alone
I'll Be Alright
It Won't Be You
It's Just the Rain
Little Girl
Melody
Mother, Father
Send Her My Love
Still She Cries
Still They Ride
What Was
When I Think of You
Why Can't This Night

The man has had a plethora or emotions
Out of them he has created the bitter sweet melodies
that haunt the hills & mountains for which we reach...

"Foolish Heart" / "If Only For The Moment, Girl" hit me as Steve's Saddest solo songs.
I relate to them a lot though, so thats why - I feel like Foolish Heart (ever since i heard it) was my life written in song..

Just check my last.fm music taste in songs. Here.

Saddest for me is "When I Think Of You". I never really paid much attention to the lyrics and I actually had not read the story behind what the song was about, but then after my dad died, I started dreaming about him a lot, and it was the only time I could see him (and there's that one line about walking into a dream...), so then one day I was playing TBF and that song hit me... and not long after I read what it was written about, and I was like "Whoa!" I thought it was a love song at first.

("Anyway" just depresses me, thinking about how it was written before everything with the band went sour, and thinking about how they went on without him a couple years later... I never listen to that song because it almost makes me angry, because it was Steve saying "you know what, yeah I fucked up, and I regret it, but this band and what we did and our relationship still means something to me...")

Pretty much the whole FTLOSM album is sad. Clearly there was an over-abundance of emotion happening with him when that was recorded. Maybe that's WHY it was recorded, it was too much emotion and just to get all that stuff out. That's why I like Street Talk better. I need the rock tunes. Not that I don't appreciate the emotional stuff but I'm too senastive for that...LOL!!

I always disliked What Was... I feel his vocals are too whiny for my liking.

Has anyone ever brought up the cd booklet that cam with FTLOSM? From the 1st time I looked at it, I wondered if he was retiring. The microphone's laying in the desert, and his back is to it as he's walking away! Has anyone else noticed stuff like that before, or am I just crazy? I also noticed on the TBF album, that he's looking away from the band. It's almost like he puts hidden messages in there. Maybe I just read into this stuff too much! Just an observation. You guys may have already brought this stuff up, but I haven't seen anything here...

Kind of like the "Paul McCartney is dead" clues? That freaked me out when I heard all that stuff back in my youth.

I wasn't aware that there were supposed to be any backwards messages on that album. However, amongst the crowd of people on the album cover, there is a picture of famous Satanist Aleister Crowley. I believe he's in the back row, second or third from the left, the bald guy.

I didn't pick him out of the crowd. I heard about it a long time ago and it's actually one rumor that is true. Actually, Aleister Crowley was more of an occult practitioner in general, a pretty slimy individual, and popular amongst more musicians than just the Beatles.
