I Kinda Like This Guy

Postby Red13JoePa » Sat Jul 28, 2007 4:32 am

A Styx fan named NightBull posted this up there:

"Okay I just got back from the festa italiana tonight. Of course I knew he was going to do mr.roboto and of course that is the only song I really really hate with a passion so I was just shaking my head like I always do when I here that song. So anyway out of the blue dennis flips me off.

Yes you read that right he flipped me off for no aparent reason. So I'am wearing my styx '07 shirt and I whip it out and yes again he flips me off for no reason again. So then I start trying him to get to see me whipping out my shirt all night it doesn't work so then just because he flipped me off twice me and my mom of course was on my side we start booing him at the end of come sail away and then we get his attention and so his dumb bimbo wife flips both me and my mom off as well as dennis and then he says not only are you fat he said something else I couldin't make out.

And I know suzanne said something to both of us but of course we couldin't make it out so we both just left. After a while I get calmed down because that really makes me upset no one does that or speaks to my mom like that.

So then I go in the restroom and out of the blue again and I'm almost done here's glen yes glen I'm pretty sure he must of followed me because that's what my mom said what it looked like and then starts degrading me yes he said at first so what do you do for a living and of course I say I am currently unemployed at the moment ( I didn't tell him I was just laid off I just said that.) And then he starts dropping the f bomb yes the f bomb at me and saying because I told him dennis started it I didn't do anything to him until he flipped me off and of course glen didn't believe me.

And then he said don't bother f- bomb again listening to any of my records or dennis's anymore or something like that. And then I walked back to where my mom was and I told her then here he is again. He asked her what does she do for a living and she's said a cashier she didn't say where (she works at wal mart) and then he said a similar thing again to her and it was almost yelling like so then I step in again I keep telling him what happend and of course he still doesn't believe me.

So then after a few more minutes of expletive chatting we leave because no one I don't give a damn who you are speaks to my mom like that and then he had the nerve to say you've got a sorry person of a son and also don't ever come see us again (which we won't) then I don't think he heard me but then I yelled back ricky is a million times better then you to. So all I have left to say is screw you dennis and glen we definetly won't be back!!!!!!!"

I read some of the thread and it sounds like the guy had it coming by his own behavior. Dennis should have ignored him but I also don't blame him.

Here's what SuiteMadameBlue posted over there...

I obviously was at this concert. Froy was sitting 2 rows directly behind this Nightbull so he did see everything. I was one row back about 5 people over (Froy saw me -LOL). From what I SAW, it seems to ME that you were the one that started the commotion, you wouldn't stop.

I heard the version of the story from people that were sitting by you Nightbull, the 2 security guys that came to talk to you and obviously those up on stage that were located in front of you during the concert.

Knowing the history of Styx and you being some kind of fan of "both" sides, why would you bring a current Styx shirt to a Dennis DeYoung show? Right there tells me you were up to something, in MY opinion.

Everyone knows that I'm a huge Dennis fan. I saw the current line-up of Styx last year. Sure jokingly I said that I should wear my DENNIS Roboto shirt, but DUH, if I actually did I know that I'd be starting trouble, why would someone that knows the history actually do that? Just curious on opinions.

Why couldn't you just go to the show without that shirt and enjoy the music? You obviously knew that he was going to play Roboto, why couldn't you just relax, take it easy and just sit there?

You were also there early and in line early to get into the front row.

Why couldn't you just stop "heckling" so that everyone around you could enjoy the show? Unbelievable!

TO ME WHAT I SAW is that when you weren't stopping, Dennis was talking to Glen on stage and then saw you and you still kept going on.

Fuck this guy. I LOVE hearing stories where singers and musicians tell people to FUCK OFF. Makes them real to me. Shows me that they're not 2 bit phonies that go through the motions just to get paid. And besides, I like Mr. Roboto. It's a bad ass song.

She's gotta be KIDDING me with this, though Dave.

The kid paid his way in, lining DeYoung's pockets and he can't wear a Styx shirt?

I don't think so. :x

I wouldn't have a problem with him wearing the Styx shirt but it just sounds like this guy was using it to basically just kick sand in the faces of Dennis & Glenn.

Good.

Me, NealIsGod and NoMota have a pact that if punxatawney ever tours again we're sitting front and center with frowns and either arms folded or fingers in our ears.

Exactly what this guy did during Mr Roboto (and, St John, why aren;t I surprised you like that song?)

And following the kid to the can to heckle him back? WAY out of line. If it were me, they'd need the jaws of life to fish Burtnik out of the urinal by his ankles.

How many haters did JSS win over by engaging them in positive, constructive debate on these forums and getting them to go to Journey shows? I could NEVER see him doing something like these 2 bozos put this kid through.

Screw that.
I like that the kid was passionate enough about Styx to pay his way in, support the band and show DeYoung, "I'm glad they're shut of you." A simple symbolic protest that happens on so many levels in life. And DeYoung had every right to give it back, but good naturedly and not to that irrational over-the-top reactionary, personal level.

What a story. If the kid brought the shirt just to fuck w/Dennis, that's wrong in many ways. However, I could see some kid wearing a Styx shirt innocently not knowing the back story. I have to admit I'd grown at Mr. Roboto myself. I hate that song.

But it was incredibly inappopriate of Dennis, his wife & Glen to react to what this kid was doing. They should have just let it go. If it was out of hand, it's security's job to deal w/that.

There are boots of Steve Augeri getting booed at onstage w/Journey during the 3 hour tour & he didn't react like that. He kept doing what he was supposed to do. I've been at Journey shows where they play something outside the dirty dozen & seen people shake their heads, get up, etc. No one in the band reacted. I've also seen people wearing Perry shirts sitting right in the front row. It didn't phase the band one bit.

Augeri had a couple NASTY ass loon hecklers in Trenton once, might've been the Main Event tour, he good naturadely sparred with them, I think he look took his shoes off and jokingly said, "It's not easy trying to fill someone else's but I'm trying"....crowd ate it up.

I'd have shook my head at Roboto too...I'm surprised Dennis having no more class than this and am shocked at Glen, thought he was a good guy. If this is true, he doesn't have any right to look down on someone being unemployed or being a cashier, he'd be unemployed too if he wasnt out cashing in on Beatles and Police material since nobody wants to her any of his own.

Why even bring this over here? I am sure that most people read it anyway. Why start more trouble over here...and if you are going to, you need to also bring his follow up stuff over here too.
There's much more to all of this.

I seem to remember JSS reacting to HOTS in a manner that some didn't think was appropriate but most here jumped to his defense saying that she deserved it and all this other stuff. Don't some of you think that Dennis ought to get the benefit of the doubt also or do you think differently because this actually happened in person and went a little farther than it should have?

Then again, HOTS often draws that kind of a response, doesn't she? God love her.

I'm NEVER over at that board, guy. Never. I glanced at it today and saw this poor kid's "Apology" thread where he poured his heart out after DeYoung loons bullied him into it and then looked for what drove him to it.
He did nothing wrong and I thought this was worthy of a look here. A lot of Journey fans don't frequent that board.

PS Dave, JSS endured barb after barb after barb from the loons here through gritted teeth before realizing he could do no right by the HOTSies of the world and called a spade a spade. He let a LOT of them go by.

I agree. If the only reason this jerk attended the concert was to heckle DDY(which was obviously the case) then he should have stayed home.

It would have been better if Dennis and Glen had ignored him.

He didn't throw anything stageward.

he shook his head and wore a Styx shirt. Gimme a break, he deserved none of the crap.

You're right that they went too far. However, if he was purposely harrassing the guys onstage, the owner of the place should've had him tossed out on his ass.

I once wore a Jimi Jamison t-shirt to one of Survivor's concerts while Jamison was out with his own band that he was calling Survivor, and I know that Frankie Sullivan saw my shirt. :) Those of you who know about the whole Jimi Jamison mock-Survivor band will understand why that was a big deal. Especially if you know what Sullivan's thought were about Jamison's band.

You want to read some FUNNY shit go click on to this link(thread/Assembly Line) and then get onto page 3. In about the middle some whack job called LifeGiver starts posting. Start reading from there.

Thats where the shit REALLY gets funny!!!

It will then carry over into another Assembly Line titled My Apology To Dennis.

Ummm...If that person got depressed over the breakup of a band, then he/she has some serious not-dealing-with-reality issues.

about 15 years ago.. i was at a Blue Oyster Cult show at a club.. maybe 300 people there.. i got a huge piece of card board and a black magic marker,, and with the BEST intentions, wrote out .. SHOOTING SHARK!!!.. i managed my way up to the very front and held my sign up,,, Buck got "white eyed" and shook his head "NO".. so i put down my sign ,,

so.. the next song,, i held up my sign again.. he was NOT impressed.. so i awayed with my sign to the floor.. but by that time .. the entire crowd was yelling out ..SHOOTING SHARK!!! .. and someone else picked up the sign...

Buck made security push everyone away from the stage , and destroy my sign.. he was ticked off but good.. i meant no harm.. i just wanted to hear that song.. after the 2nd song, performing acts always say.. "so what do you want to hear!!"... but the reality is , they will play what they have been rehearsing for 6 weeks.. BOC dont take requests...

I'm a huge Styx fan (LOVE the new Dennis album) but I've never seen them live. But I have met the guys and while Tommy has always kept it loose, Dennis has been a bit tight-ass at times (like most creative geniuses). I asked him to autograph my Return to Paradise CD when it first came out, and my friend standing behind me took several photos of me and the band. Everything seemed cool, totally polite and professional - I mean JY was awesome and I am a huge fan - I even bought the live Kilroy video when it came out! (And who among us can say that? )

But when I got the pics back, I was shocked to see what Dennis did here:
