OK SJ - let's see if we can figure this out.![]()
Past and Present band members of Journey (if I have omitted anyone - too bad - lack of oxygen kills brain cells)
Prairie Prince
Aynsley Dunbar
George Tickner
Robert Fleischman
Gregg Rolie
Neal Schon
Ross Valory
Steve Smith
Steve Perry
Jonathan Cain
Deen Castronovo
Steve Augeri
Jeff Scott Soto
Total = 13
(not included: Randy Jackson, Michael Baird, Larry Loudin hired as contract players during 1 tour)
Members Fired from Journey:
Aynsley Dunbar
Robert Fleischman
Ross Valory
Steve Smith
Steve Perry (not here to argue the semantics of fired, moved on without or bailed - not the purpose of this comment)
Steve Augeri
Jeff Scott Soto
Total = 7
53.84% of members being fired, I can see how a reunion might be tough!!
Not a very good rate of attrition.

But let's review history...he quit the ROR tour, quit the FTLOSM tour and never even bothered to tour in support of TBF. Hence, my conclusion is that he really doesn't care too much about the fans...unless it's time to disguise the Dirty Dozen into another neatly packaged compilation and drain us for a few more bucks. Oh, i forgot that he keeps in touch with us annually with those enthralling, pre-screened Q&A's.

I don't think it has anything to do with not caring what the fans want. Seriously Dan, if you were SP would you want to hang with those guys again? Especially after recent events. I'm guessing SP knew something a long time ago that Brian May mentioned recently about them "owning their own poo". Life's too short to not be happy. The guy is almost 60 and I don't blame him at all for not wanting to get out there again with Journey. Saying that, wouldn't mind seeing him (solo) playing a few smaller venues once in a while.But then again, I'd be just as happy with them releasing another live classic era dvd.......especially ROR!

He needs Journey and Journey needs him at this point if either is to be successful. Unless of course he decides to get Randy Jackson, Nuno, Smitty and a keybaord player and uses AI to catapult them to the top. I'd still rather see him with Journey though. As would WELL over 90% of Journey's fan base.

If van Halen can do it so can Journey. And don't believe the bullshit that's being written, DLR's voice is not what they're making it out to be. It's rough sounding. Plus, he wasn't good when he was good.

Quit crying about it... in the scheme of important things it doesn't matter one iota.
Now move on and get lives.

Singers who weren't good when they were good have the great advantage of lower expectations than that to which singers who were once great would be held. Perry learned his limitations in '94, no way he is coming back after his voice has endured another 14 years of no use.

I had to read this a couple of times to understand it, but it is absolutely right. The thing that gets me is how rough Perry sounded in 91 at the Graham memorial and then better on FTLOSM, and still better on TBF.
