VEGAS BABY!!!! Hotel planning here!!

Postby txfirefighter » Mon Jan 28, 2008 4:55 am

Since everyone is scouring the internet for deals and trying to find the best place to stay, etc., lets put all the hotel info here. We can all try to be on the same page, and if someone finds an awesome deal, we can all be privy to the info!

Let's go..........

Rokken is at the Imperial. I vote for that.

Dude, Vegas is 3 million people in a 1/2 square mile. Monorail is free and everything is walking distance. Airport is right next to the strip.

Good lord, is that place still standing?

The last time I was there, Circus Circus had the best prices in town for rooms.

It would be ideal if everyone could be at the same place or next door. Hopefully no one books the fuckin Frontiers or Stratosphere..that place is in a bad part of town.

The strip is six miles from end to end and it can take the bus an hour to cover it!

   Let's get some quotes from that place. I'll do whatever the concensus is. The main thing is all be relatively close.

I'd stay away from the Stratosphere. It's at the very end of the strip and not really near much of anything. Even though the strip in Vegas is very walkable, it's quite the jaunt from one end of it to the other!

The heart of the stip isn't very long though. Most of the cool stuff is within walking distance. It is fun to go to Freemont St. though.

Hopefully I can help as I've visited some friends in Vegas 2 years ago and heard people talking about the Lady Luck Casino and Hotel.
They said it's recommended for the great prices and gratuities.
If you plan to gamble, you get a VIP card and with that one you have all access (including drink-all-you-can in the VIP bar  ) and they have all kinds of deals which can include even free rooms.
It's not very well known,at least not as famous as the Strip hotels & casinos, but seems to be a good deal.

Haven't found much on the Net,so maybe it's best to call and find out more from them.
Looks like it was closed down last year for renovation, but I guess they're done.

Lady Luck Casino Hotel
206 N. 3rd
Las Vegas, Nevada 89101
702.477.3000 | 800.523.9582

Price Range: $40-$180 per night

Glad I got to see Vegas. It sounds like it won't be much left of it after March 8.

You shouldn't smoke, Ms. Tobacco Road. I hear it's bad for your health. Although, you'd never know it with all the puff-crazy folks in NC

I wish I hadn't had so much trouble landing at the P.H., but in the end, I guess it wasn't really necessary. The Imperial is 1.3 miles down the strip, or supposedly 4 minutes away. Each hotel only makes so many rooms available to Priceline (or probably most of the online bargain travel sites), so maybe they were out of those. For what it's worth, another friend in Vegas told me he thought I would have been 100% happier at P.H. than the Imperial, but when it all comes down to it, we really don't spend that much time in a room anyway.

But hey... We'd love for as many of you to join us at the Imperial as wanted to!

Ok, here were my deals... Priceline quoted round-trip air for 2 (with 1 stop each way), staying at P.H. for about $644/ea. I landed the same deal with the Imperial for $505 each, but then I adjusted my flight times and added $45 travel insurance. Total was right at $1,100.00. The difference should cover our TicketMaster charges... :P

Saint J., if you need some help or advice w/online travel, feel free to call. I do consistently find Priceline a few bucks cheaper, but as Deano mentioned, they are all apparently linked into the same deals.

You have never been either?? holy smokes.

From the airport there is a shuttle for $14 to the strip or you can take a cab, I usually take the shuttle to the hotel and catch a cab to the airport leaving.

RD is right Stratosphere has some major drug neighbor hoods behind that hotel. Only thing it is by that is worth a crap is Olympic Gardens a male and female strip joint :)

I recommend surfing the web for las vegas, there are sites that have a map of the strip to get better aquainted with it and what is near what.
here is a cartoony one that helps

http://www.visitlasvegas.com/vegas/stay ... 33&id=3633

The Fashion Show mall is on the strip as well as the Forums in Caesars Palace all on the strip, you can walk.

If you have never been it can get overwhelming looking at all the cool casinos, but the weather will not be hotter than heck so makes it easier to hop from casino to casino to check out all the cool hotels.

The Hard Rock Cafe and Hotel are off the strip aways, you will need a cab if you choose to hang out there for the Doors Tribute.

I love Vegas and it is a fun town, generally you will spend a day checking the strip and then settle into your favorite watering hole at either the venue hotel or one next to it.
If you have never been I would be surprised if you didn't love the place, I am not a gambler I just enjoy looking at all the travelers and freaks.

If you are a gambler and you loose, I can see why you might not like it. There is plenty to do without gambling, people watch, great food and buffets.

I am in Vegas this week for a trade show and in booking my hotel for this show, I found Travelocity to be MUCH cheaper than booking direct via the hotel AND via the trade show's "special rate." You may want to look at them...

Dean, text me ur # again; damn phone crashed and lost your #.

Ok, who is going to be watching the liquor intake so no one pulls a Brittney while there!

Furthermore, disclaimers need to be signed for photographs taken. My god, Vegas is going to be on fire!
