What do you think of AP now?

He's good enough that I'll go see them again or at least buy the cd.

I didn't get to see a whole lot of it, but what I did see, I enjoyed. I think he did just fine for a first show. I'm in.

Seeing those clips is a little underwhelming for me. He already had the voice. I thought they'd help him with his stage work a bit but its early in the game.

Anybody who writes something off after one exposure to it, and not even in a live manner, is a musical tard and undeserving of calling his or herself a music person. Or a person at all. Good things take time and work. One live show and you crucify him? Okay, go ahead and play with your walkman while the rest of us enjoy progress and growth. I'm all about seeing where this goes. It has a LOT of potential. And he sounded pretty good from Open Arms on through.

There's a SMALL contingent that will be saying that...so copy>paste>rinse>repeat...I already got my tix and I'm not 1 of a dozen...I'm one of MANY!!!

Journey is here and tribute bands pay homage to the legend.

Amen. I heard enough to like, but from the other perspective I didn't hear enough to crucify either. He was shaky in spots but the good far outweighed the bad. Arnel did a great job.

As nervous as that dude probably was, he did OK for his first big time show.

I have been a Journey fan for a hell of a long time and I spent 1 hour of my life to hear this tonight. Arnel sounded ok on the slow stuff, terrible on the faster rocker songs.

Tonight just cemented my position. I have not flip flopped or changed my feeling since JSS was booted.

Maybe if and when Arnel is shit canned I will re-look at Journey. I love the music, just not this incarnation of the band.

Good post.
As I stated - solid, but no knockout landed, but if he does some more work and warms into it....time will tell.

At least the public now has something to check out and base their opinions on.

He sounded good for the most part, a few uncertain ones but certainly nothing that cant be chalked up to first time nerves. Definetly cant wait to see them live and get the DVD/CD!

There's nothing inferior about Jeremey's vocals other than compared to Perry himself.

Haha, I just wanna say for the record, I enjoy JSS and Talisman very much, and do intend on making it to a Frontiers show eventually. I've never heard a bad thing about Frontiers. ;)

I miss Augeri. I hope his voice has gotten back to what it was, and I hope we'll be hearing from him soon.

Hahah, inferior is inferior, even when it's an 8.7 being compared to an 8.8. :D

Every one of Journey's lead singers has at least been an 8/10 to me. No slouches at all in the bunch of 'em, all amazingly talented.

Augeri, overall? Perhaps a 6 or 7...Early on, I would've given him an 8. He was flat-out awesome the first time I saw him with the band in November '98.

JSS was a 9 of 10 for me once he got it going.

We'll see how it goes when Arnel gets settled in.

You should have went to go see FRONTIERS 2 weeks ago in Cleveland HOB (sold out show) and seen for yourself. You are in Ohio right?

Jeremey does kick some ass. Plus, they are all great guy's.

I had every intention of going but was all booked up the day of the show. Such is my life, really. This summer I may have to make a road trip or two if needed, I'd love to check 'em out in person. YouTube does nobody justice in this day and age, I'd love to hear the real deal.

I watched and listened to the performance and came away thinking it was all VERY average! Having said that, it's VERY, VERY difficult to judge Arnel or anyone else on a shitty internet boot (although Neal's guitar is ALWAYS unmistakable)! I still think Arnel will sound superb in the recording studio. Let's not forget that the first boots that were released with Jeff singing were not great. In fact, I thought most of them were TERRIBLE, even though people were saying how great they were. The later (relatively speaking) performances were MUCH improved! One thing should be very clear to everyone...This guy isn't Steve Perry. I think the sooner everyone accepts that and moves on, the better off everyone will be!

Dude, let's be serious if only for a moment. Jeremey could not do what AP did tonight. He couldn't come close. It's not a blast but it's the truth. Arnel's first show, and he did pretty good. He needs to learn the fuckin words better but that will com. However, his voice is miles better than Hunsickers.

And if you want to compare bands, stop already. I am sure Barry blows Neal out of the water.

My point is this. You all don't like AP or Journey anymore and that's fine. However, anyone with a brain could see Pineda is a voice that is special. He will go home, look at tape, and make adjustments.

I think everyone knows he has the vocal talent and this was the first show and a pretty good show by any definition.

What really surprised me was the stage presence, what everyone thought was his weak point. I'll tell you what I was pretty suprised with the utilization of the stage and interaction with the audience. I was definately impressed.

Can't wait for Vegas

Um, yeah! He totally fucked up some words in "Faithfully", which is beyond shocking, considering there are a gazillion videos of him performing that very song with his band all over the internet!
