Sj, Yeah, the last election was a smear campaign on Kerry over his stance on the Vietnam war after he returned....But of course, nobody cared about that cocaine sniffing, war dodging, war-monger...who just loves getting in dick-waving contests with religious zealots....

Whomever voted for this bastard: How ya liking the gas prices?!

And Gore got fucked by cronies, governors, and Catherine Harris!

Don't you remember Bush hiring all those war veterans to run white people off their farms and burn their livestock alive, or when Bush had his guys tracking down the members if the opposition and breaking their forearms with metal rods? Oh, wrong country.
I'm not picking sides but this analogy is totally idiotic.

I voted for Dubya in '04... and while I miss the gas prices of yesteryear, it doesn't really bother me. It's not that dramatic of a difference to be paying. I drive a gas-conservative vehicle and have a well-paying job to support it. Just the recent dollar spike (since Marchish) doesn't bother me at all. For me, that's just an extra $12 per tank, and a tank lasts me almost two weeks. I spend more than that on Starbucks every two days. All I care is that it's still there to be consumed. Price (relatively speaking) doesn't make a damn. It's called work hard, earn your keep, and shut your trap. :D

I thought Speculators were also an important Factor as well......someone correct me if I am wrong, but didnt their used to be restictions on specualtors that were significantly relaxed under the leadership of the Bush administration ???

Which congress was it that went along with relaxing these restrictions ? I'd really like to know.

Unless my understanding is way off, between this and the record profits being reported by the Major Oil companies, it seems recent policy is slanted to the advantage of big business and away from you and me.

Just wonderin, I'd sure like some of that money back in MY pocket instead of theirs.......or a nice inheritnace or lottery win so i can have a share of the extortion for myself........

Nope, bullshit politics is driving up the price of oil. We have oil, but we can't drill for it. Funny, China can but we can't. Unfuckinbelievable.

I'll guarantee you it ain't pacs. GWB has done pretty much exactly what he's wanted to do since he took office. There's not a pac or environmentalist group that could stop him if he wanted it done.

Hey Rick, I just got a check in the mail for $5,480.00....if I negotiate it, the Co. that sent me the check is going to drill on my property so many feet deep, blah, blah!! If they strike oil I get 20% of the profit.....got anything like that going on in TX? I'm getting checks from several different companies, it's happening all around me. I'm SIGNING NOTHING!!!

if you look at profit in terms of gross margin instead of in ( and billions billions of) dollars you are correct.....I just know an ever larger portion of those profits are coming out of my pocket.

as far as Anwar oil reserves being the answer, a couple of things I have heard/read recently include:

- estimates of the total available oil in Anwar would take care of our energy needs between 3 and 24 months ( CNN, I believe )

- it would take between 5 and 10 years before a single drop of that oil was to reach us. ( various sources )

- US contolled Land already leased to the Oil companies is only being utilized for less than 30 percent of what is available ( Meet the Press last Sunday ) The push is on for the Anwar land so policy can be changed while GWB is still in office.

Gas is over $4 a gallon. Maybe now the people want more oil? Clinton veto'd drilling in ANWR 12 years ago. Was that Cheney's fault too?

12 years ago, gas was half the price it is now. The urgency wasn't there. I think Cheney was heading up Halliburton 12 years ago. Not sure how he applies to the argument.

Well in another 10 years gas will probably be over $12 a gallon. How about we save that oil til then? If you're defending his veto and siding with the environmentalist movement you have ZERO right to make a peep about gas prices.
