This thing is a fucking smashing success thus far...especially considering the U.S. leg hasn't even started yet. These are extremely strong numbers.

This is also including NO F-CKIN' airplay in Chicago and elsewhere. Looks like time for a follow up letter. Or a visit. I hope the radio execs don't make me go to Franklin Park and round up some wiseguys i.e. Cain associates and go downtown.

Fabbest at the other site added up all the HDD sales numbers for me. But he said RIAA goes by Billboard which has been a little different.

Correct...and Billboard issues its numbers on Thursdays I believe, but our very own ttango1 works for Nielson and gives us the numbers earlier. ttango1???

My count is 284,544 (x 2 = 569,088 units sold).

I'll post this on the other thread too, but if Journey sells 16,573 albums for each week of the US-leg of the tour (which ends Oct. 5th, before 2 Canadian dates), the album will go platinum.

I think there's a strong case for this album going platinum by the end of the 'Revelation' tour in October ......

It won't go platinum unless there is some airplay...After All These Years seems to be languishing...lets release Never Walk Away to Top 40!

A tour is 10 times better than airplay these days...and that's what kicks off tomorrow. Album sales will only increase as the tour starts - that is if the band plays 2-3 songs from it.

I sure as hell hope they play more than 2-3 new songs. My expectation is 4-5. If not, they are pussies. :)

Eh...I'll take 2-3 since they are only playing 90 minutes. If it turns out to be closer to 1:45, then they should definitely roll out 4 or 5 Revelation tracks. We'll find out tomorrow night.

I just want to hear a minimum of 3 new songs. If they play 3 I'll be content, but 4 would be ideal...all things considered. The 90 minute set really doesn't allow for more than 4. 3 or 4 new songs per concert would be perfect. I think for the first time since 1986 they have an actual obligation to play new material the way the album has sold thus far.

Sorry, but listening to Arnel play the old stuff, I hope they play the entire new album....He really needs to learn HOW to sing. He has a great VOICE, but he's lacking a bit in the HOW area. Maybe it is just his 'live' voice, or maybe it is his 'accent'...Who knows? But I'd rather hear the new stuff. SA was better at the new stuff as well.....

i think platimun, anyway you figure it, might be pushing it, to expect 15,000 sales a week 2/3 months after release is alot
if they play 5 shows a week to 12000, then 20 percent of the people attending would have to buy, and with us loons already owning it that number looks like a stretch.
it just shows how far the music business has fallen.
i would have thought a million copies of this would have been a given.
dont get me wrong im not ripping them , its a really good cd, i keep it in my car .
and of all the classic melodic releases this one is for sure the best seller.
hey andrew any slaes numbers to compare(DL, asia, loverboy, reo)

Hey man, I'm a big fan of Arnel's and I hear it, too. I think he is still conscious of the diction issues while he's singing the old stuff and at times it interrupts the flow of the songs as the words come out and at times it sounds like he's trying too hard to say certain syllables properly. While I don't agree that he necessarily has to "learn how to sing", he certainly needs to become more familiar with some of the classics so they become more effortless for him to perform.

With a 90-minute set on tour (this is just a guesstimate), then they have time for about 18 songs (at 5 minutes each).

So that's The Dirty Dozen (however you define those 12, but including a Neal Schon-solo/intro), plus 6 other songs. One of the Dirty Dozen would likely be "Mother, Father". For the 6 remaining, they'll probably do a "deep" track, another Castronovo-led song, and four tracks from 'Revelation'. One of those four would be the 'Generations' re-record of "Faith in the Heartland", leaving three others. My guess is those would be: "After All These Years", "Never Walk Away", and "Wildest Dream".

There -- that's my prediction .....

4 would be ideal and here's why...you're gonna hear AATY and NWA at every show, but it would be cool to rotate the other 2 with the remaining Revelation songs other than FITH. That song isn't new and it certainly isn't a classic so I see no reason to play it ever again. Then again, I found no reason for it to be recorded again!!!

What are Motley Crue's numbers?
And what about Los Lonely Boys?

MC was a general release, and LLB was a WM release.
Just looking for some comparison numbers.

Where Did I Lose Your Love By Journey

Desperately falling
Feeling our love set us free
We were better together
Believed it was all meant to be
Stay as one forever
The band of gold would always prevail
Happy in the moment
Life betrays one, a fairytale
Memories time cannot erase
I still see your face
