Why are Journey avoiding shooting videos???

Why aren't Journey shooting videos for Never Walk Away and After All These Years?

Last one they did was When You Love A Woman with Perry and they had bunch of singles from TBF, Armageddon OST, Arrival and Generations afterwards... Are they so afraid to lose some money on videos?

Since early 80's, most of relevant artists shoot videos to get in rotation on music channels and help that way to keep momentum in charts...
Since Journey are on Billboard, I doubt their videos would be left unaired... This isn't 1992-95. anymore, you know...

Look up to Aerosmith in 90's, and show some pretty girls on videos... Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler helped them a lot with showing up in Crazy, Crying and Amazing... Before that, in 80's, Tawny Kitaen helped Whitesnake a lot with showing up in Here I Go Again, Is This Love, Still Of The Night and The Deeper The Love videos...

Usually the label foots the bill on videos. And since the label is technically Wal-Mart, probably wasn't budgeted for. Just a guess. Plus all of the previous video's suck, so not anything I'd look forward to.

Journey has historically avoided the "story-line" vid....... TBF was as close as they came to it after the "Separate Ways"and "Chain Reaction" vids

In an interview they did in Japan during the ROR tour - they talked about how those types of videos were usually the video director's vision of the song and did not match theirs and probably not the fans.

They felt that by using mostly concert footage, the fans could still imagine their own story line to the song.

Aside from all the excellent points made above me, the 90s might as well have been a hundred years ago in music years. Grunge has come and gone, major labels are going fast, and music has arguably come and gone as far as mainstream goes. I don't need to have them shoot videos anyway.

Their live videos are the best. Story videos suck and theirs were particularly bad. Horrendous. They're too old to act in videos with young chicks and look cool. They'd look foolish. But live, you can't beat them. If it didn't sell albums, it'd get peeps to their shows.

There is no need for Journey to even appear in the video. But it would work better if they did. They could still do "performance" parts edited in to a story vid "starring" someone else. They could also tskee the DVD footage and spice it up with some simple effects. Maybe edit in some tour footage or studio footage. You KNOW they have more video recorded.

Videos don't have to be expensive, they are certainly cheaper today than they were in the 80's-90's. But the band really is not hurting by not having a video. I think it could help, it certainly wouldn't hurt. And they should not be made thinking about eMpTyV. But the www has plenty of video outlets and it would be good to have access to a Journey video. Just the Journey MySpace friends list embedding an official video on their pages would do a LOT.

If I remember the story correctly... Walmart just wanted the re-records, Journey mgmt (Azzoff) negotiated the additional disc of new material, then the Vegas show was also added.

Most likely Walmart wasn't interested in footing the bill for a video.
