I've seen a lot of odd names over the years dealing with information data bases. I remember one - the Parry family; Lawrence and Marion, and their kids Harold, Barry, Terence and Sarah. And yes, they refered to themselves as Larry Parry, Mari Parry, Harry Parry, Barry Parry, Terry Parry and Sari Parry. Kid you not.

Also came across Fabian Legume Peabody. Which is even funnier when you know that 'Fabian' is latin for 'bean grower'.

Two names that I honestly saw on a customer list about a month ago and yes I write this stuff down when I see it... Buzz Fly and Mubashar Butt.

I'll let Mubashar go (at least he didn't get named Harry Butt, or Hugh G. Butt) but BUZZ FLY?

Even if that's a nickname, why would anyone do that.

I knew someone whose neighbor was a 5th grade teacher and she had some name stories. The two I remember were a girl named "Female" (pronounced Fe-mah-lay)... and a boy named Vagina. Don't know if that was pronounced different but at that point, it doesn't really matter how you say it.

The parent needs to understand a dash is a symbol not part of a spelling of a name. She should expect that most people would be unfamiliar with how to pronounce it on site. She should not get all put out. But this is what teachers put up with all the time.

They could build it right between the school for homosexual students, and the other school for the fat kids. We'd just have to make sure that we had separate buses pick them up and drop them off...wouldn't want them to get picked on on the bus.

We had a kid in High School named Jay PATUEJSOJIOERONSAEFI (that's not it, but it was equally long and impossible to sound out). Anyway, a sub asked how he pronounced it and he said, very slowly and deliberately, J..A..Y....
