LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California's octuplets mum, already jobless and receiving food stamps, has gone into hiding with her six older children because of death threats, her spokesman said on Wednesday.

'UNDISCLOSED LOCATION'

For the past few days, Suleman and her six older children, ages 2 to 7, have moved into "what we are referring to as an undisclosed location," said Michael Furtney, a public relations consultant working for the family. The Web site RadarOnline.com reported the family was staying at a hotel.

Furtney said Suleman and the PR firm have been deluged with hostile telephone and email messages in recent days, some of them containing threats of violence and death.

"The bulk of them just rail against her being, as they would refer to her, as a person who's taking advantage of the system, and they just go from there," Furtney said.

He also acknowledged that the hostile messages have so far outnumbered the well-wishes, but added, "the positive notes are beginning to catch up with the not so positive ones."

Some have been directed to a new Suleman family Web site that solicits private donations to help support them.

The site is adorned with photos of the mother and her eight newborns, along with images of a baby bottle, a pacifier, a rainbow and alphabet blocks spelling out the word "love."

Below the greeting, "We thank you from the bottom of our hearts -- Nadya Suleman and children," are heart-shaped links that invite visitors to comment and to make a contribution.

Furtney said people have primarily been offering furniture, clothing, food and other essentials, and someone even promised to donate breast milk. He said one Indiana farmer has offered to have the whole family live with him and his family.

He said "volunteers" were paying for her temporary living arrangements.

Suleman might temporarily move back into her mother's three-bedroom house in a Los Angeles suburb, but that house will likely prove too small for all 14 children, Furtney said.

Suleman's mother, Angela, has called her daughter's decision to keep expanding her family "unconscionable" and she said she had pleaded with her daughter's fertility doctor not to implant her with more embryos.

I've been SO PISSED about this woman for several days now I don't even feel like hashing out the argument I've posted everywhere else again, but my main conclusion is that the kids will be better off without her in another home that can provide and I'd be much happier about my taxes going to them in foster care than to feed her lip injections and further IVF treatments.

It's insane that adoptive parents have to jump through hoops but there's nothing like that for in vitro pregnancy. And no legal limits on the number of embryos a doc can insert, so really he's not legally in trouble, and she probably could have sued him if he'd refused to give her all 6 embryos.

She's clearly mentally ill and on fraudulent disability.

We are talking 14 kids and a sick woman. So, she is ill and delusional, and one in many, so we ought not to pay for the well being of her innocent kids? Drop the tax argument for fucks sake. You all sound like your entire Goddamned check is going out to her and her kids. Get real. The focus of any pissed off taxpayer should be the A) doctor, and B) System that allowed this. There aren't many like her. She is ill. To continuously cry "my tax dollars this and my tax dollars that" is really pure bullshit. The act itself will likely, hopefully, bring to light the situation at hand, and changes will be made and doctors will be reprimanded or have their license's stripped. This occurrence is hardly going to break the backs of the hard working people in the state of California.

Taxes? Not my concern in this case. Those babies deserve better than they'll ever get. They don't deserve to be used as pawns by this delusional, narcissistic, possibly sociopathic bitch. That's what I care about. I'm not footing her bill one way or the other.

I believe Arnold asked for a bailout. Then I read that Congress told states to stop spending or sink their own depths .This lady clearly has mental issues. The oldest children should be able to stay with the only parents they have known. I feel for those grandparents but believe those attachments are strong, but they need support $$$. The octuplets need adoption and the state should allow them to know each other exist @ 18. The mother needs medical mental treatment. The doctor should be listed as the father !!!!!!!!!!!! He also should be charged legally if there is a law to prosecute.

I heard some news mention that she said she planned on using student loans to support all these kids... anyone else hear this? I heard it in passing as the news was on and I didn't catch the rest... and I was so annoyed by it that I didn't bother looking it up becuase i'd just get madder.

I do agree with Dean on one point though, its not these poor kids fault and they do need to be cared for. I really think they'd be better off adopted out but that brings to the table the argument of splitting up siblings, etc... its such a huge mess. What on earth were these doctors thinking. Ugh.

I suspect CPS plans removing at least the 8 pending a psychiatric eval stating her unfit. Mentally she's only a few steps removed from this story becoming even more tragic.

The grandmother already said she and the grandfather are the ones caring for the other 6.

I'm not opposed to some type of help in keeping the 8 kids together either with the gramps or in a good adoptive home.

Mom should get supervised visits. I wouldn't trust her with any child alone after this.

Obvious her own site won't let us track back comments already left. 90% of what I've seen everywhere is vitriol.

This woman is obviously mentally ill. And the fact that she was given the opportunity to have MORE babies by a fertility doctor knowing her mental AND financial condition makes me even more angry. She was enabled.

You know what? I hope she DOES get MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of private funds from book deals, movie rights, etc. because I don't want one more cent of taxpayer dollars paying for that idiot, and yes even if my dollars have nothing to do with that woman' and her babies, the principle remains.

She never should have been allowed to have these kids. End of story.

If she is selfish, self absorbed, and money hungry what kind of upbringing will she provide? I think this family will need ongoing counciling, and some stability.

I am more angry with the doctor, he should have known better. It is amazing few are focusing on his lovely contribution to this lovely mess. I think their upbringing should be partially charged to him. He was the most irresponsible. Maybe he did this for the fame as well. But regulations need to be brought to light and irresponsible practices like this need to be put to a halt.

I fully agree. She could not be a good example to them. 14 little ones, I seen moms with tripplets so exhausted they could never sleep......think 14! All crying, needing didies changed, teething, getting into things, sick, and can you imagine that one alone? 14 kids with the chicken pox? Flu? She is certifiable!

It will be interesting to see what develops out of all this. I don't know what this doctor was doing implanting more than 3 embryos (that's the norm, sometimes 4)...if I remember correctly this fertility doctor has had controversary in the past (I vaguely remember something negative said about him from my own fertility doctor years ago).
Yep, clearly the mother has mental problems...she & her elderly parents will never be able to care for all of them alone & no telling what disabilities they will have in time - the other set of famous Octuplets have 3 kids with disability. And, she already has one kid with autism (ha, that's like adding another 6 kids cuz of their special needs - I know personally)...
and, as Sarah pointed out going thru an adoption you have to go thru so much to determine whether you are capable to adopt a child...we had to fill out tons of paperwork, get fingerprinted, have FBI checks, several social worker interviews, home visits, friends/family interviewed, etc. Yet some wacko can have 14 kids thru fertility clinics! Unreal.
