Hi Infidelity

Captured, Hi Infidelity and Paradise Theater were my first LPs that I purchased on my own. Hi Infidelity was the surprise. I only knew Keep On Loving You initially but this turned out to be a great album. Listening to Take It On The Run and Don't Let Him Go, you realise what a great guitarist Richrath was. The track I Wish You Were There was also unique as they turned out a great Gospel rocker with that number.
This album went on to be the best selling rock album that year and ushered in a new genre with their #1 hit Keep On Loving You . After all these years, this album still sounds great.

Don't Let Him Go is a great rockin track.
Like you, I originally bought it for KOLY but
the entire album is great.

Kind of ironic that this album (a change toward pop from rock) really began there height of popularity and then immeadiatly after they started a downward spiral

I had all three as well.....played the hell out of them and wish I still had my vinyl collection.....lost in my parents divorce!!!Ugh!

Best years ever in rockmusic, 1980-1981, Captured, Escape, Hi Infidelity, Paradise Theatre, Foreigner 4, Rainbow's Dificult to Cure, Michael Schenker's debut album, all classics...

High Infidelity has such a great sonic to it. It's very crisp & clean, and well-mixed. Never really cared for REO that much, but this is one of the best sounding albums of all time in my book.

Yeah, that album was very well produced. I remember listening to that one, E5C4P3 and Foreigner 4 all the time. A lot of my friends were into Paradise Theater, but I never cared for Styx. The first albums that really got me listening to rock were Van Halen's first three albums, Rush's Moving Pictures and Kix's first album.

i remember getting albums in the mail from the tape club columbia house regularly.well this was in 1984 right when the wheels are turnin' album came out that had can't fight this feeling.i got that album and high infidelity too.well i get this big brown package in the mail one summer day and i remember my grandmother was watching me and my sister.well i open this up and my grandmother immediately locked eyes on the hi infidelity album cover.at first she didn't think it was appropriate for me to have the album.she stayed very close when i put it on the turntable,lol.i've got a picture from march of 1983 where i got the cassettes kilroy was here,frontiers and pyromania.i'll post it here if it will show up...

i think it was a beatles.thing about me was i was never big into toys even when i was little.some kid might've asked for a GI joe or something but i wanted music.when MTV first came out we didn't have cable so i'd spend entire weekends at my aunt glued to the television.i had a huge crush on joan jett after i got the album bad reputation.

In late '81 HiInFi was HUGE. Bigger than escape.

I remember cholos cruisin' in lowriders blastin' those tunes. Folks that wouldn't touch a rock record were playing it. REO, right there by Rick James and Shalamar. :lol:

It was the must have album (8track?) of the year.

Looks about right, can't remember which album that is though.

I was the same way. When I earned money of my own, first thing I bought was a decent stereo with a record player.

Thanks to a rerun of Ed Sullivan I experienced a latter day BeatleMania. Other kids were singing "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin" and I didn't know what the hell kinda music that was. :lol:

richrath must have a pretty bad alcohol issue but if he ever did clean up i don't see why they wouldn't let him back in because he was a big part of the sound that made them successful.

Huge from I have read and seen. Stories of him missing for days then going to his house and him being so drunk he can't do anything. Watch VH1 Behind the Music.. They go into a lot of detail.

I was so geeked for their follow up album but when Good Trouble came out, I was a little underwhelmed. By the time Wheels Are Turnin' arrived, Reo was off my radar completely.

Bruce Hall's 'Back on the Road Again', is all-time fave and one of REO's rockin'est songs.

they probably all partied but when business was at hand everyone got serious and sober but richrath simply couldn't stop.i saw the behind the music years ago and its very sad.you'd think that gary would finally get it together.some people are so bad they get lost in the haze of addiction where nothing else matters.been through it myself.

The fact that he is still alive is a wonder. I thought it was really sad at the end of the BTM where it sounded like both Kevin and Gary wanted to get it together again but neither one of them was willing to make the call...
