Journey / Steve Perry Reunion DVD?

Postby texafana » Thu Jul 23, 2009 2:04 pm

I think a much more realistic chance of a reunion would not be a tour, but a one night only reunion which would be filmed for DVD sales. This way Steve could focus on 12 or so songs that he can still sing well. Wouldn't have to worry about a tour, etc, etc. Plus I think everyone involved would be up for it since there would be no fking around with tour dates, etc, etc.

"Never Stop Believing" - Journey w/Steve Perry, one night only. Live on DVD.

Personally, I think it would be awesome! On the other hand, I'm not sure everyone would be up for it. I wouldn't think Arnel would think this was such great idea. Nothing like having your boyfriend sleep with his ex-girlfriend...for one night only, of course.

That probably isn't the issue. Sure it's a great idea in the wild dimension that Journey and Perry die-hards live in (the one in their own heads)... but how ridiculous would it make them all look... "Oh hey Perry's back! Oh wait... just for a couple hours, then Arnel is the singer again...? Um... wait what?" They've juggled their lineup enough over the years, I think, and telling people, especially the casuals who grew up with Perry/Journey, that's he's back for 1 show but they're still going to stick with the new guy in the long run would make people go "Oh come on, are ya kiddin' me?"

And I really doubt the ex-girlfriend would have any kind of interest in this idea.

Yeah, that was so "not" cool for Neal to say about Perry. I think he's always been jealous of all the attention Perry got from the girls and press. I mean, hey, look at one and then the other. No competition for Perry in that department! He's got it going on....the whole package. Love that man.

Yeah, we women are funny like that huh? Imagine, not wanting to sleep with a guy that effed you over. But in this case, both parties perceive themselves to be the fuckees, not the fuckers, so its a standoff. Who would cave in first, if anyone? I say neither.

I feel confident that this will NEVER happen, but if it did... Neal and company would throw Arnel to the side like an old can of lima beans!  Just saying...

I don't think either one really needs to....I love Journey with Perry and if it ever happened I would be one happy girl...but I think I can live with some solo stuff from Perry and Neal can continue on with the girlfriend of the month club

Yes they are the BEST together....but I don't think that Neal will ever admit that.....and after the F-U comment well I don't blame Perry for letting the answering machine pick up the phone when the ex gives him a call 8)

I totally agree with that. I don't think he's hurting for money but he does love to sing/perform. It comes from deep in his soul.

"Never Stop Believing" - Journey w/Steve Perry, one night only. Live on DVD.

That would be killer! All this fan could ask for, just one filmed show! :D

The only way I could even remotely see this happening is IF Journey (ever) gets inducted into the RRHOF. I'd also absolutely want to see Rolie and Smitty up there as well! They'd probably only play a few songs at best though due to time constraints of the event. It'd certainly be interesting to hear how Perry would handle the material now on songs such as Patiently, which I believe is a MUST since it's the first song that he and Schon wrote together.

Have Smitty play a few songs, Rolie play a few obvious tunes, fk..that would be one hell of a DVD. Seriously, get your shit together boys and make this happen before you all die or something. Seriously, we're still VERY fortunate the original band members are still alive.

You're joking, right? Right?
That would be a pretty dumb thing for them to do, just to produce one reunion DVD. They might ask Arnel to move over for a spell, but this would be nothing lasting. You really think Perry would be up to touring after that and that his voice, at his age could handle the grueling schedule of a tour? Man, if you, do, please take a seat in row 9 of the loon bus. Actually after next year's tour it would make sense for them to do it. The only way to get another deal like they had with Walmart is put out another DVD/CD package with Best Buy or Target. NO tour needed. Just do two shows and put it out there with the new CD. It could be their biggest payday yet.

I don't think it would happen but they're not really going forward with Arnel anyway. The guy isn't even getting to sing HIS songs anymore just like what happened to Augeri. Arnel is set for life. He could walk away after one more tour and live comfortably. We know he dreads touring as much as Perry does, why suffer through it when he doesn't have to?

I don't think a reunion will happen but there have been plenty of bands that have had members sue the pants off one another only to get back together for one last payday. The Eagles are a prime example Those guys hatred toward each other made Perry and Schon's issues look like a sisterly spat.

Personally, I think Journey needs to let that Nomota LLC moniker go before any type of reconciliation is hoped for.
