Augeri's last show was in Raleigh on July 4. I believe the first JSS show was on July 6 or 7 in Bristow, VA.

If memory serves, that was one of the Florida shows. Not the 1st show, but within the first 5 shows.

They played 2 other shows prior to this one I believe. I saw them right before that in Charlotte, and I believe that was his second show with them. At the time of the Columbia show, Journey sent Frontiers front-row tickets AND backstage passes. I went backstage with the guys, and we hung out with Neal and Jeff. It was an AWESOME night! :D

i don't think it's sarcastic lol. maybe i'm just slow or something, but does anyone else find it odd that a jrny tribute band received front row seats and passes, a band that at one point was sort of harassed by jrny mngmt, and funny that the singer was invited to audition after they used jeff? maybe i just don't get it, but all these bits and pieces make an interesting little puzzle.

Is it possible that Arnel was already in Neal's sights when JSS was let go?

I still want to see video of the night that SA began the show and then bowed out, causing DC to sing lead. Wasn't that the story of Augeri leaving the stage? Didn't I read that's how it happened?

Someting like, after the first song or two, SA walked back to DC and said, "I just can't do this any more", and walked off?

Anyone? Bueller?

Let's just cut the Columbo crap for a second here.

Jeff Scott Soto invited ME, Jeremey Hunsicker, to a show. I told him the Columbia show was probably the easiest one to get to. I had known Jeff prior to his joining Journey, and like many others on this board, was invited to a show and a meet and greet. It was not an open invite to Frontiers, and had nothing to do with Journey. I asked a couple of friends to go, as well as two members of Frontiers. Jim was not performing with Frontiers any more, but I wanted to invite him as well.

This was in November of 2006. Journey had no idea who I was. Their publishing company harassed Frontiers in the past, but I assure you the members of Journey did not know who I was until Jeff introduced me to Neal, and Jonathan certainly had no idea who I was until Madison showed him my YouTube clips in May of 2007.

Jim, did it seem to you that Neal had any clue who I was besides me being introduced by Jeff?

That's all there is to it. Conspiracy minded folk here, eh?

Revelations indeed. Tsk, tsk, Lula.

I was already out of Frontiers at the time, and the only reason I went was because a couple of other members didn't want to go. I had a blast! I'm not sure what to make of the situation, because I don't believe Neal had anything to do with us getting the tickets. It was all done by Jeff, and I think it was really because he knew Jeremey from here and the Annex. I think it was just a friendly jesture, but I could certainly be mistaken...

Also had to add that I thought it was funny also about Journey management trying to stop Jeremey from playing and recording Journey songs (years ago), then they flew him out to SF for an audition! :? You'd think they would handle themselves a little differently.

well, I was the one who wrote the review, which got chopped up and cut-and-pasted everywhere. I think I still have the original review somewhere, but without digging that out, here's the rough version....Basically, Augeri hit the stage with massive vocal problems, and after a few songs without improvement, had to go offstage and Deen sang a few. Then, Augeri came back, tried a bit, left again (if memory serves), then finally came back and stayed. His voice was really gone, but was slowly improving throughout the show. There was a clip of Don't Stop Believin', which was about 2/3 to 3/4 through the set, that got posted on youtube at some point. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7pdgctX2l0. Remember, this was the GOOD part. The bad part was much before this, and his voice was improving song by song. It got a bit better than this by the end. There's a Jones Beach, NY bootleg from a few days before--and Augeri's voice was near that level by the last song. Still, he was in no shape to do that tour.

Augeri never said anything about "I can't do this anymore" or anything of the sort. His only comment was roughly "you might have noticed I haven't been myself tonight, and thanks to Deen for saving the day".

Hey Jeremey, sorry... I hadn't read your response before I posted my own, but I basically stated the same thing. Jeff sent you the tickets, and no... I didn't get the impression from Neal that he knew you or had ever talked to you previously. I think I remember him saying something like "Oh yeah... you're that guy that sounds like Perry" or something like that. Then he talked about Augeri for a minute. You know... thinking about it now though... maybe us meeting him that night got the wheels turning in his head though!

Who knows? All I know is that I thought Jeff was very cool and down-to-earth, that Neal likes green curry indian food, and that both bands rocked the HOUSE that night! :D

wow, interesting.

Was that a sarcastic interesting?

i don't think it's sarcastic lol. maybe i'm just slow or something, but does anyone else find it odd that a jrny tribute band received front row seats and passes, a band that at one point was sort of harassed by jrny mngmt, and funny that the singer was invited to audition after they used jeff? maybe i just don't get it, but all these bits and pieces make an interesting little puzzle.

Well Jim all I can say is I would have given anything to have been with you guys and it was by far the best concert I have been to in all my year and the sound quality was unbelievable in little ole Columbia SC!!! I really just can not get over Greensboro sounding so crappy last week!!!!

Someting like, after the first song or two, SA walked back to DC and said, "I just can't do this any more", and walked off?

Anyone? Bueller?

well, I was the one who wrote the review, which got chopped up and cut-and-pasted everywhere.

From whatever was chopped-up in the aftermath review, I thought it was said that Deen finished the show as lead vocal. I thought it was from front/center stage, but that begs the question of 'who played drums?'. But still, a piece of whatever was written was that Deen said "No I cant do this. Are you sure?" in response to Augeri leaving the show. And then the review's implication was that Deen sang lead from then on out.

Please forgive me for all the potential mis-information, but I've always been interested in video of that show an the way it went down. No offense to the band and fans, et al, just curious.

That's the Greensboro Coliseum for you. I have NEVER seen a band that had good sound there. You can get good sound in War Memorial, but not the big building. The coliseum is better than it used to be before they remodeled it, but it's an old building with a bunch of echoes. The louder the volume, the worse the echoes get.

You are right about that!! Echoes all night and everything sounded drowned out!! Even Arnel and Neal which hardly ever happens. I saw them in Charlotte front row too and that was an excellent show as well but nothing touches that Columbia show by a mile sound wise!
