As bad as the Separate Ways video was, it did get noticed. We can all laugh at it it now but back then it served its purpose.

Separate Ways was a cheesy video, but a great deal of early 80's MTV videos were just as bad.

People thought it was cool back then. And that's all that mattered as Frontiers was selling very well.

NOBODY thought it was cool back then. It was stupid then. It's stupid now. Journey should've stuck to live videos. Other than Randy Jackson's look, "The Girl Can't Help It" was the best video the band did- actually all of those ROR videos were great. The Frontiers videos were all completely terrible. Escapes were good because they were live.

It got noticed because a record company pushed it. If it came out today, under the walmart deal, without major label support- it'd suffer the same fate as pretty much any "classic rock band" material does these days. That video was also ridiculed (and rightly so). Not sure what people would have the band do these days. I'm happy to see them doing new music, unlike Styx who just want to do the oldies circuit and that's it.

This isn't 1983 anymore when a rock band's videos actually get played.

I certainly hope Journey's next move is to produce a Rap Album so it gets sales. That's all that's important to me.

Well geez, that can be said about any music, not just old 80's stuff. The music biz pushes what it decides is going to be popular. Think about it, the melodic rock style of the 80's was something completely new and different from stuff you heard in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. It ran it's course until people latched on to the next new thing, which was grunge and then post-grunge alternative. That stuff ran its course and now it's hip-hop and rap music. That stuff will run it's course and then there will be something else completely different after that. When has any of this music ever came back around in its original form and taken the airwaves over? Other than isolated success here and there, the music biz continues to evolve into the next big thing....which lately evolves from one sucky thing to the next stinky/suckier thing. But, one thing that stays constant is the fact that sex appeal (thanks to MTV years ago) of the artist goes a long way, and some twenty-something getting up on stage is a lot more attractive than some 60+ year old. Not putting anybody down here who is that age, but that's just the truth. And the thing with the music biz is that the young artist with sex appeal is going to get pushed a lot more because of that than the music itself.

Stop it, you're going to make Brywool start bawling. The guy was already tearing up before anyone had even criticized the video.

For what it is, I thought it was a great effort. I'm not a fan of the song but it's still cool to see what people can do using their own initiative.

Oh this is pretty cheap looking. Be happier if they cut out all the black and white bits.

Also some of Arnels lip syncing is completely out... maybe he should call SA for some tips ;)

Still though, nice to see a video.

Thats a fan made vid? Slighty out of sync but only slightly. Putting vids like that together isn't as easy as it seems and is time consuming. Props to whoever did it. Well done!
