No offense to anyone....BUT

We have a AAA Hockey team (AHL) here in Rochester...the Amerks....and over the past 25 years I have seen European players consistently underperform and generally ruin the team and or the game of hockey.

I also hate soccer (despite playing it) but Australian rules football is pretty cool....

That's about as ignorant as it gets and typical of an uneducated American.

Britain/Australia/NZ and our allies were fighting and dying in that war YEARS before the yanks finally got involved.

I can enjoy soccer for about 20 minutes. And although the "American" soccer players are not great, at least they make a little contact and get a little aggressive. But that is why soccer ends up boring me...no action. I would like to catch a few of the American games during the World Cup, just because...but I won't lose any sleep over it if I miss out.

That US educated Canuck fought in Desert Storm wearing the US flag, so I would hope he gets a little respect.

Bad name? Oh ok.

Aussie Football is ok, but it's not like those Blokes are going over the middle on a 25 yd slant with Ray Lewis just sitting there waiting to go OJ on you. The NFL moves 4,780 times faster than the Aussie game, and the size of the player is 3 times that of the croc wrestlers.

One thing I noticed is that a lot like the rest of the world, the Mexicans absolutely positively DESPISE us. Last year they were chanting "OSAMA! OSAMA!" in the stands when the US team went down to Mexico City....

Yep, they're a disgrace. And you KNOW they loved knocking the US out the World Baseball Cup on US soil. Christ, Mexico was mathematically eliminated from winning it all and they still celebrated like they won the world series, Superbowl and stalnley cup and cured cancer all on the same night.

Easy guys..

I live down next to the border, and if we didn't have those little running burritos around, who the Hell would mow our lawns, wash our cars, and hand me my #3 value meal?!

Seriously, you are all correct. These fuckers want to live in America, because they just want to work." Yeah, work, and send the money back to that toilet that is Mexico. They wonder why Canada can have an open border, and they can't.

BOTH Dems and Republicans are cowering to the almighty vote. Fuck em. What should be done is the US gov't should seal that border up until Mexico gets it shit together. That is one of the most corrupt countries out there.

13 is absolutely correct with their "Osama" chants....That should be reason to sodomize their collective asses right there.

You should see them when Mexico plays US in soccer(not that I was there, Hell no). They throw bags of urine on the US players, and wonder why they get beat up by US citizens.

13 is right, they are a fucking disgrace.

A buddy of mine had a good idea about the immigration: it looks like they are already going with the 'if you can prove you have been in the country for 5 years you can stay' line, so why not tell those immigrants that in order to stay they have to be the ones to help build the wall between Mexico and the US? In order to stay, they have to help secure our border from the rest.....

C'mon let's talk sports... :D

Ray

God, I have just been waiting for someone to ask me this.. !!!

Okay, I am trying to remain calm here. Soccer sucks, Ray. I will give you some solid reasons as to why it isn't even a sport.

1) First off, it's the "world's number one sport" because the poor states of the world can't afford a baseball and a bat, or a football( a real one with laces), or ice for a rink, or basketball hoops and asphalt. All you need is a coconut and two trees for goal posts to play this shit game.

2) Corruption- The referees and the players are all in on the rigging of games. Stay with me here. I will meld this into reason number 3.

3) Scoreboard. What the hell is with that? Soccer, the "world's best game" doesn't use a fixed scoreboard with a CLOCK! Why is this important. Let me tell you. The "referee" aka, the betting scumdick, keeps the "injury" time in his head, and when the stopwatch goes off(the scoreboard clock), he just guesstimates how much time should be added on to accomadate "injury time." First off, these clowns don't get hurt. How the fuck does one get hurt by sliding on grass? Did poor south American tiger beater get a grass burn? poor baby...nuh uh. So, said ref "adds time on to the end of the game." Let's say scumref has a grand on Columbia to beat Paraguay. Paraguay is up 1-0, and Columbia is threatening(like that ever happens in soccer). Anyway, what's to stop referee from throwing a few extra mins on the clock?

4) Lack of scoring chances/shots on goal. If I hear how soccer is like hockey, I will go to prison for life, because I will maim the person who says it. Hockey can be 1-0, and be exciting as Hell. You can have 25-35 shots on goal and numerous scoring chances, but soccer, you are lucky to get three consecutive passes to conect.

5) Contact..err, lack therof. As mentioned earlier, these are the world's biggest pussies. They fall down and writhe in agony and pain, until referee pulls out a "yellow card." Ooohhh, a yellow card! Look out. Once card is pulled out, "injured dude" magically jumps up, and there is no sign of pain anylonger.

6) Fans, err, assholes. I just love a sport where the fans are tougher than the players. They throw ziplock bags of urine and blood, called urine bombs and bloodbombs on players, not to mention fireworks. Pitiful. A good reason I HATE all soccer playing nations. Thank God Canada and the USA suck in soccer.

7) Those gay soccer shin pads and even more gay shin guards. Shin guards? Are you fucking kidding me? I am starting to lose it.

In summation, when my son was 2, and he licked a soccer ball across the room, I immediately picked it up and said, "Bruce, you will never ever do that again! Understand?" I took that ball and stuffed it into the garbage can, before the Mexican kids across the street ripped it from the can, those littel bastards. Not because he was playing in the house. Hell, I built him an indoor hockey rink....He wasn't ever going to play that shit "sport" again. That alone made me a great parent.

Nothing personal to you Ray, you seem cool, but please realize, when a kid realizes he can play football, baseball, hockey, golf or basketball, he hates himself and his parents for making him play soccer.

One more thing that pisses me off about soccer.

Those Goddamned orange slices and capri sun drinks..WTF is that about?

Sigh....I was about to come out to you with guns blazin' yesterday....unfortunately a good's night sleep has doused my fire somewhat...

Dean, I could rebut some of your points, but I realise it would be pointless. Why?

Cuz I understand why you hate soccer as much as I understand why I hate baseball, football & ice hockey :

We were never raised on these games. Soccer has NEVER been a popular sport there in the States, well at least not before the past decade or so. Same as the region where I live here. You dont find a single kid who picks up a basketball and goes shoot hoops with his daddy at the backyard, or a kid who goes to the ice rink to play ice hockey with his buddies..

Here, a kid goes playing soccer, tennis, badminton, AFL and cricket.

So, how could you possibly like soccer and how could I ever possibly like the games that you guys over there in US like...?

I could say anything about soccer, you'll still hate it..YOU could say anything about all your sports, I'll still hate it...see..?

So, tell you what...instead of arguing over stuff that we hate, why dont we talk about stuff you and me have in common..e.g. Journey, REO, Van Halen, Bryan Adams, Richard Marx, Steve Perry to name a few...? :)

Now, having said that, here are some points I would like to add :

1. Are you saying that United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain are poor..??? And dude, YOU try kicking a fuckin' coconut...

2. Corruption, well....yeah, but isn't corruption everywhere..?

3. I dunno about the US soccer league ( what is it, MLS..? ), but you obviously dont watch global soccer games. The ref is NOT the one who decides the injury time, the 4th official does. That's the ref who is outside the playing field, doing what..? Yup, keeping time....

4. Again, what soccer games are you fuckin' watching..?

5. Play acting. THAT I agree with you, dude...those fuckers should be banned for life...!

6. A form of terrorism...thats what happens when passions go overboard...another point of yours I absolutely agree with....they should be...I feel very strongly about these fuckers, so I will hold my tongue...

7. What is so manly about the pads of the footbal players, dude..?

Just my two nuts, man...chill

8)

Don't wait too long. I can only log on at home (no net [allowed] at work).

All I meant was (and it should be obvious): I don't give a sh*t about football. If you're into it, more power to you. It bores the piss out of me. Like literally, I piss from all the beer I imbibe in any attempt to make it seem more interesting.
