And that's coming from someone who has one of both in his family.
Hell, TNC might even BE both!!

He's right here though that it is difficult to refrain from a descriptive joke on the chance there could possibly be a person who might know someone who could be affected by the subject of the joke....
You know I think it is different for those of us who actually have a person who is LIVING with them , than a person who says, "I have a family memer that is disabled or whatever the issue may be, that is NOT actually LIVING with them.
Meaning that when you are a CAREGIVER of a person who is disabled you see first hand what they go through & know HOW really difficult it is for them every day, so it is taken MORE PERSONAL for the CAREGIVERS, where as someone who says I have a family member that is disabled ... BUT doesn't LIVE with them, or is NOT the CAREGIVER of that person on a regular basis, so they don't see "first hand" what great challenges they deal with every day, so sad to say, but I guess for them, it is easy to make a joke of them.
And I'm not trying to censor the board here, if others want to JOKE about them, I guess that is their perogative here, but as a CAREGIVER of an adult daughter with developmental disabilites, and one REALLY KNOWS first hand what she goes through, I don't find it funny!
