SF - you're right - the various interviews and quotes can contain contradictions and we ought to be skeptcal about anything the band says in public. But I hope you're be equally cynical about the quotes which describe how Perry took the band 'hostage' for over a decade - and all the other stories which portray Schon and Cain as victims.
Let's just agree that there is no 'clear-cut hero and villain in the Journey story.
That is why it is well past time to put these arguements and issues behind us as fans of Journey.
Sure - we musn't take it all too seriously and get resentful towrd each other - but I actually like talking about the classic era of Journey and a few agendas here and there usually spices up the conversation, don't you think?
Or is it perhaps that some here are not truely fans of the current Journey even though they claim to be? It has been a decade since Steve Perry was in this band.
I'm not a fan of post-Perry Journey at all and - in my heart - I still believe they should have called it a day in 1998. Yes - since JSS has arrived on the scene I'm curious about the new possibilities but I'm a long way from being convinced or won over. Maybe that'll change when I see them in March....
Remember and discuss his great vocal contributions by all means, but don't be little or insult the other members in the process.
Come off it SF...we've had plenty of debates recently and I've always tried to make it clear that I'm primarily a fan of the combination of Perry, Schon and Cain. Also that - like it or not - these three members are irreplaceable...especially Perry and Schon. I'd have a hard time supporting modern Journey if Schon was no longer in the band too.
