I agree, Sherrie, except that it has nothing to do with what I said. It was just the fact that I said it.

Exactly!! It gets to the point where nobody even reads your words or cares about the meaning or the point you're making. It's just about the conservative viewpoint against the liberal viewpoint and what's in between gets completely ignored. Sort of reminds you of our national elections doesn't it?What a pathetic waste of what's supposed to be democracy.

When I saw you had posted, I knew before I read it that it would be a negative post. Do you ever have fun?

Scarygirl sings, "The loons on the bus go round and round. Round and round. Round and round."
SJ, that wasn't a jab at you. Just thought it was kind of funny!

Well Sherrie, the United States is not a democracy, but rather a Republic.
The United States is, indeed, a republic, not a democracy. Accurately defined, a democracy is a form of government in which the people decide policy matters directly--through town hall meetings or by voting on ballot initiatives and referendums. A republic, on the other hand, is a system in which the people choose representatives who, in turn, make policy decisions on their behalf. The Framers of the Constitution were altogether fearful of pure democracy. However, under Bush, we are lucky to have a fuckin Constitution left!

You are so right Deano. I still remember my civics.Every time I hear Bush say he's going to bring Democracy to Iraq I wonder when he's going to give it to us. He even usurped our rights as a republic.

I will however contest the statement that "Plant Can Still Sing", not because I disagree with the statement, after the reunion gig, I think he did just fine, but because it implies that Steve Perry CANNOT....no matter WHO made the statement (and it surprises me that the man who made that statement WOULD..)
I submit to you.. This Link
That is THIS YEAR....and it is very much proof that Steve Perry CAN sing.....and more than just a snippet of "Don't Stop Believin". He's a little rough around the edges...but it's VERY MUCH Steve Perry.
That's all I have to say about it.

Here are a few:
Following are examples of freedoms which President Bush and his fellow Republicans in Congress have already expunged (as reported by the Associated Press):
FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION: Government may monitor religious and political institutions without suspecting criminal activity to assist terror investigations.
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION: Government has closed once-public immigration hearings, has secretly detained hundreds of people without charges, and has encouraged bureaucrats to resist public records questions.
FREEDOM OF SPEECH: Government may prosecute librarians or keepers of any other records if they tell anyone that the government subpoenaed information related to a terror investigation.
RIGHT TO LEGAL REPRESENTATION: Government may monitor federal prison jailhouse conversations between attorneys and clients, and deny lawyers to Americans accused of crimes.
FREEDOM FROM UNREASONABLE SEARCHES: Government may search and seize Americans' papers and effects without probable cause to assist terror investigation.
RIGHT TO A SPEEDY AND PUBLIC TRIAL: Government may jail Americans indefinitely without a trial.
RIGHT TO LIBERTY: Americans may be jailed without being charged or being able to confront witnesses against them.
