Now, Bolton opening for Heart I can understand. But Schon and Cain IN Journey won't be.

Cool piece of trivia though. I never knew that. 8)

I was pretty surprised. You have to remember that Bolton hadn't released that Soul Provider crap so he was still boarderline rock.

I love ya Sherrie, but they aren't any more faux now than they were when Rolie left. He was the original lead singer.

I know they're going to play the dirty dozen, and probably most everything they play this tour will be from Perry's era. But they might just surprise you and be damn good. You should give them one show, and if that doesn't do it for you, then nobody will be able to argue with you. That's pretty fair, no? One show wouldn't kill ya.

It's not the original members. Cheap Trick is.

Yep- If we wanna go on the strength of original members, Trick should close every show!
I
m not seeing where you guys think Journey will close every show. No way that happens. I'll lay dollars to doughnuts that Heart is the headliner.

Now what they OUGHT to do is round robin it and have a different order every night. That would kick ass...

I should hopefully have a dvd of one of the Chile shows before the end of the month and then I'll decide if I'm going to fork out the $100. Most concerts from Chile are televised on tv over there. I have Kiss, Maiden, Priest, etc. pro shot dvds from Chile. One of the shows Earth Wind and Fire is opening. How strange :?

I love and respect you too Rick but it's just not going to happen. I don't need to pay Journey prices to hear someone who isn't Perry sing the DD. Especially when I don't think the singer is as good as Jeremey.

It doesn't matter to me that Neal, Jon, and Ross are there. (I've never been a star-struck kind of person) It was always all about the vocals to me and, IMO, Jeremey does them better than that other guy.

At this point the only person I'd go see the band using the name Journey for is Steve Perry.

I predict Journey will close based on the strength of their attendance numbers the past several years. Joe Elliott said the Journey/Def Lep tour in 2006 was their second highest grossing tour EVER (of course inflation and ticket prices influence that). On the Generations tour, Journey was filling some 20,000+ seat venues alone on the bill (like Houston & Detroit).

I've seen Heart 3 times in the last two years, and they are in very fine form, but the crowds were just not as large.

The average fan hasn't a clue who is singing for Journey; headline status will be purely a business decision.

Yeah, if Journey is trying to headline stadiums they don't have what it takes. But they easily can headline on the shed circuit. They played those venues on the Generations tour and didn't even have another band on the bill. Is your promoter friend in charge of booking events at the Metrodome? Of course he wouldn't touch them then.

Seriously, Journey is not relegated to being an opening act. And Heart is not the name Def Leppard is, so this tour won't be "co-headlining."

Well said. Plus, Journey has a new album and the buzz the Asians will create around Arnel will be good publicity. Journey will headline, no doubt. They're simply more talented, the bigger name and they draw more.

LOL!!! You guys are cute with your dreams...ah well, ya gotta hang on to something I guess, even if they are pipe dreams. :P

Not one of these three bands can draw flies by themselves, so what difference does it make who's headlining?

Anyone who thinks Heart or Cheap Trick is the headliner needs to have their head examined.

1. Those bands don't draw combined what Journey draws.
2. Both Cheap Trick and Heart refuse to play most of their hits

I still can't believe I went to see Heart and didn't hear NEVER...but DID hear 4 Zep covers.

to many people here think with thier hearts, and not with thier heads.
journey has been headlining/co the sheds almost every year for the last 8.
heart has not been out as much.
and cheap trick plays theatres/fairs.
i think this will be a co headline in name only,
with cheap trick opening playing a short set(45min)
heart next playing thier 1:15min
and journey will close every nite playing 1:15.

I love ya too, Rick, but that's just silly.

Rolie was removed as lead singer when they brought in Fleishman. Both those incarnations of the band were getting them nowhere and they were very close to losing their record contract. Journey didn't become the Journey we (or anybody else) cared about until Perry was brought in the mix. It wasn't just a vocal change. Their entire musical approach changed and most Journey fans could care less about anything that was done pre or post Perry.

Now that being said, I don't see a big difference between supporting an Arnel led Journey from an Augeri led Journey. It was just as faux with Augeri as it is with Arnel (except Arnel appears to be a better singer than Augeri IMO). However, I'm with Sherrie here on one point:

I won't go spend money without hearing what I'm buying first. I want to hear what this band sounds like with Arnel before I fork over the cash. If I like what I hear, I'll go. If I don't, I'm done.

You've got to be joking....

While Journey was out scouring immigration lines and phone books for new lead singers, Heart has been touring, released the Decades Live CD, been part of VH-1 Classics Rock Honors, and Ann released an album last fall. What has Journey done!? JACK SHIT!!

They threw Journey a bone by even inviting them on this tour, let alone letting them close.

Yes, Journey's closing.

Heart may get the token "Co-headliner" label that Journey got on the DL tour but no way they go into this unless they're closing.
