My sister has lost all respect for her husband, not because he's voting strictly Republican, as he always does, but that he has no reservations about Palin. Everywhere I turn highly educated people love her. I thought maybe it was just the far right of the Republican base. I really didn't think anything ever again in politics could make me sick like the re-election of Bush did. But a 2012 Palin election could send me over the deep end.

Give me a break. As much as it shocks you that people like Palin, we're shocked at how many people are actually going to vote for someone like Barack Obama.

Your Media, and one CT Chick   :x :x

I'm also stunned that people like you are so shocked about her. This is someone who, by all accounts, only ever got involved in politics to begin with because she got pissed at the way the system worked and decided to do something about it. She worked her ass off to root out corruption in her own party and unseated a corrupt, entrenched member of that same part out of the governor's seat in Alaska. She isn't just an empty suit and I'd at least think some would respect her for what she's accomplished, considering where she came from.

Yes, she did come across with the "deer in headlights" look in the Couric interview but, other than that, she's fairly well held her own, in my opinion and isn't any less astonishing in her policy views than Obama is in his (see his views on the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortion, for instance).

Interesting, considering prominent Conservative intellectuals (George Will, Peggy Noonan, David Brooks etc.) were the first to label her as the social issues distraction she really is.
Like Bush before her, she is simply pandering to the ragtag and bobtail.

To recieve the party's nomination McCain had to move further and further right, but the corrosion of his principles really started after 2000.
Even on the issues where him and Bush split (torture, global warming) there isn't very much difference.
It's not so much that he's tied to Bush per se, it's that he's tied to the modern GOP platform which is going down.

I don't have a problem with the modern platform going down. Hopefully, the old one (Ron Paul/Pat Buchanan (more so Buchanan)) comes back.

I agree. Even McCain would be better than George W. Douche. But Palin... I'm not so sure on that one. It would be hard to imagine anything being worse than Douche... but this woman scares me.

She is scray...I can't believe for a minute she will be a front runner in 2012. C'mon!

What's so scary about her?

I've repeatedly stated she is not qualified to be the President of the United States if McCain should die in office. I have no faith in her ability to deal with the war in Iraq, any decisions regarding Afghanistan, Iran, Russia, on and on. I see in her regarding the Iraq war George Bush. Not every governor just because they're a good governor is automatically equipped to be president, i.e., George W. Bush. I have seen nothing in her in any of her interviews, VP debate, rally appearances that shows me that she's Presidential material even if I was a Republican, nor will four years change my mind on her if she decides to run. There's many, many Republicans that even if I don't agree with their stance on certain issues, i.e., McCain on the war, I would never doubt their ability to be Commander in Chief.

And for those of you who are going to tell me that if McCain died in office she could handle Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and all other foreign policy issues just as well as Obama, please. Come on. His deep intellect and grasp of all the issues and even temperment throughout this campaign is impressive. I have faith in him and in his choices for foreign policy advisors, and his decision-making. No faith in Sarah Palin.

What makes you think Obama will be able to handle it too. What is his EXPERIENCE? He may just lay down to them also.

She has decreased spending since coming into office and reformed corruption in her own party. I don't know that either Palin or McCain has said they are completely against earmarks. If so, I retract that part of this statement.

Where's the bridge then? BTW, Obama and Biden both voted FOR the bridge.

And BTW - Gore would have won in all but two of the two dozen proposed methods of recounting in Florida, and Kerry would have won using ANY OTHER method in Ohio.

Exit polling? Never, ever was it off in an election by more than 0.3 points. However, in 2004 in OHIO ONLY, the exit polls had Kerry winning by 6.0 points - yet he "lost" by 2.5. In NO OTHER STATE was the difference more than 1.3 points...ANYWHERE.

Kinds of reminds me of what happened in Black Sheep with Chris Farley. Al Donelly losing to a bunch of citizens who are dead! Makes you think..what if something similar happened in the last two elections? Somethin' to think about.

No the dead are very liberal bunch and vote Democrat...

Republican's evidently don't want anyone but white, rich Amercians to vote, according to the liberals...

A better analogy would be: The Democrats stuff the ballot box, while the Republicans try and fish the votes out before they get counted.

what you shouldve done is to edit your 1st post in the US PRES thread and added the poll there and eliminate this thread. 8) That way youd have the poll AND the discussion in one placeYou could still do that you know :)
