It's a gay acoustic show I believe. Bryan rocks when he's plugged in, but not so much when he's not.

Good.. I'll make sure to call you during the set then! :P
I'll be listening to Manilow. If you interrupt me I'm gonna be pissed!!!

Consider it done then! I'll even sing in the background to make it more entertaining. 8)

I would like that alot, but only if it was a co-headliner tour where each band got about 2 hours of stage time. And an opening set with some HSAS/Love or Money/Planet US/Classic Rock covers with Sam and Neal would be very cool also.

There I go dreamin again........ 8)

Sammy is another case of an artist that would hand Journey their lunch 5 days a week...Sammy is raw, energetic, full of life...doesn't fuck around with canned vox, doesn't have a tutu wearing vag behind a piano in his band....I can go on...

Really, I don't ever see Journey taking a chance, unless they never considered it was a chance to begin with. I strongly suspect, for the very short leg that Journey had Silvertide out with them, Fro probably watched them from the side of the stage and go "Fuck, we gotta step up our game"...and after a few weeks and silvertide was off the tour Fro probably went "Thank God they're gone"

Out of curiosity, what do you play besides the radio?

Would you have preferred they stopped after '96? '86/87 maybe?

Great question, but hindsight is the big gorilla in this room. Knowing what I know now, I would have preferred that they stop after 96...in sorta the same way I would've hoped that Enron never promoted Andy Fastow to be their CFO in the mid 90s. But we can't look back on stupid mistakes and wish we never did them, eh?

So that begs the fact that we *learn* from our mistakes. While one can make arguments for and against us "learning" from Enron....you can't say Journey's learned didly-dick from its various stupid mistakes, scandals and horseshite. Sometimes, I think Jeff Skilling should be the one in a rock band making money and Neal Schon should be the fucker rotting in jail!

I agree with the co-headlining. Contrary to some opinions, I think it would be a blast! And it would be great to see Sammy and Neal do some tunes together.

That's enough for me. No sense in even conversing this topic any longer. You all have fun watching the same songs yet again.

However, I will reply to your retarded statement at the end. Playing the Halftime show is playing it safe? LOL, ok bro. Don't you wish Journey would even get a sniff at anything Super Bowl? I wouldn't call Arnel a superstar. Steve Perry, Lou Gramm, Elton John, those are superstars. They created the sound of all the hit records with their voice and wrote or co-wrote most of the music. They have a legacy. Steve Perry is the voice of Journey and the memory for people, and is a true original, with a one of a kind voice. That is a superstar.

Arnel is coming into a band that already has its sound. He will honor that sound by singing those songs in the same way that Perry did. It may be too late to make a huge mark with new music. I doubt Journey does more than one more CD. And he may become a superstar in the Philippines. I hope so. He deserves it. But it's different there than here. You don't have to have a body of original work and hits.

But Arnel is a freakin' amazing singer and performer. What a voice. And people are forgetting Revelation is a success and had great reviews, including by Andrew. I don't care that Arnel didn't write anything. This is all new original music with him as the lead singer of Journey and he put his sound on those songs. That's his voice, not an imitation of Steve Perry. And I love a lot of those songs and the power and huskiness of Arnel's voice on those songs. I like that he doesn't sound exactly like Perry on the new music, because there's only one Steve Perry. Excuse me, I have to go listen to Like A Sunshower.

I would argue that only Elton John was the superstar and still is of those three. perry and Gramm were awesome, but they were never held up like a "Superstar." T TIME said Arnel is a superstar. Um, not quite. Dude is amazing, and I love his pipes, but superstar is thrown around too much. Having said that, perry and Gramm are not superstars today; my point is once a superstar, more than likely, always a superstar. Stop typing St John, I know there are exceptions to every rule. But even back in the day, to Journey fans, perry was a god, but to music in general, the name Journey was the big headliner, not Perry, Schon or Faga.

Actually, you're right. Perry was the superstar of Journey at one time. Because most of my friends vaguely remember the name Steve Perry until Journey is attached to his name. Everybody remembers the name Journey and their music and that he was their singer. Steve Perry has been out of the limelight way too long for the general audience.

I would call Bono a superstar.

Absolutely.

Actually, if you can give the first name and people know who you are referring to, then you are a superstar.

Music: Billy, Elton, Bono, Bruce, Celine, Madonna, Shania, Mick, Elvis....

Sports: Mike(Michael, Wayne, Mario, Sydney, Brett, Manny, Alex, Derek, Kobe, Ichiro, Wilt, Kareem, LeBron.

Fags: Richard, Elton(again), Friga, Penn, Teller, Rupaul, Liberace, Matthew and RedJoePa.

LOL. I was trying to strike that "Jersey Boy" Nerve. Lets clarify. First Arnel. Public perception - He is not a superstar. Ability wise - I believe he is. His pipes, energy, showmanship, relation to the crowd. They believe him when he is singing the songs. SA couldn't pull that off and JSS could not either. All talented performers but they just didn't have that major "IT" factor. Arnel does. Thats why the album, tour, and future is so exciting. Dean, if you go back to my original post about his hiring, I wasn't excited either. After Vegas I thought " here is just another hired hand to karaoke." But after seeing his development in such a short time. He rips it up every time.

Why is every post that dis agrees with you "garbage?" Thats my opinion. Not right , not wrong just mine. NBC's original press release about " The Boss" performing was " we will continue to play it safe." I know your a huge "Boss" fan but thats not really rolling the dice. Hey I'm siked up to see him and Elvis Costello Jamming away. 20/20 vision

Garbage was perhaps the wrong word to use. I know that's your opinion, but what I was trying to say is, if you put Arnel Pineda up on the marquee of any NBA and NHL arena in the country, no one would know who the fuck you are talking about. Put up Bruce Springsteen the place would sell out. Put up Bryan Adams, people would definitely know who he is. He wouldn't sell them out, but he would be a helluva lot closer to selling to break even than Mr Pineda. As for AP, I was one of his biggest supporters, and a lot of folks were kind of shocked given that I know Soto and such. Pineda was by far the best choice to replace JSS. BUT, lately, I must say, a great many of you think he is Steve Perry or even Elvis Presley. How about seeing if the guy can write a song or 4, and let's see how their next record will do. I have said it before, I am not one of those who despise Journey just to despise them for despising sakes...it's clear I am not a fan of these assholes and wouldn't pay to see them ever again, but I don't want to be a guy who just comes on here to rain on your parade. That sucks when folks do that. I believe in giving props when they are deserved, and nailing them to the wall when that is deserved as well.

Now as to the Springsteen argument. When you said "playing it safe," I thought you were referring to Bruce himself, not NBC. Two points to make here. 1) NBC has long wanted him to play. Don Ohlmeyer is on record as saying he wanted BS to play for over a decade. Why wouldn't NBC want him? This will be the highest rated Super Bowl halftime show ever. 2) Playing it safe, was a sentence I used to describe Journey and their conservative set list. Always the same and always predictable. They are better than that, and they should for their fans, mix it up. There are people on this board who spend lots of dollars flying all over the country to see these guys. Wouldn't it be nice if Crazy Deb could say that "the flight to Seattle was long but it was worth it to hear them play, Good Morning Girl and Troubled Child!" Or Rhiannon and BJG traveling to Houston and being able to say they saw Journey play Stay Awhile and City of the Angels? But noooo, they see the same shit, every show. How boring. I can guarantee you Bruce will play a new song off the new record. That to me is "taking a chance" and promoting the relevance of the E Street Band, and promote themselves as a fresh alternative to commercial radio pop.

Does that clear it up?

Sorry to come across so brazen, it's just some of the praises heaped on Arnel are a bit excessive and not yet earned.

I never thought in a million years I would say this but I agree with every word in your post. I would never say he is as big as any of those guys you mentioned and I did state in my original post about not knowing if has any writing skills. Then again Elvis never wrote his songs either. Arnel is very talented, but if you place MC Hammer on the score board at a NBA game everybody would know him also and I wouldn't place him in there class either but he is or was a SUPERSTAR. If Selena was on the same scoreboard everybody would think it was a "Crowd Shot" but she was a SUPERSTAR. I was simply referring to his talents not status. If you would say this on his board you would be strangled with about 2 million misguito nets.

Dean you are so wrong no matter how strongly you state it. We can agree to disagree about which rockers are better. I'm not getting into that but you can't compare B A - more of a solo artist to Arnel - a frontman. Arnel is a superstar, he just isn't popularized yet but he is a superstar. I can't imagine W H I C H songs from B A you are referring to as such "Rock" classics besides maybe "69". Other than that his best days was when Kevin Costner was wearing tights in "Robin Hood". I don't know if you caught any shows after Vegas but I hope that wasn't your last impression of this line up. This line up will in no way be shown up by anyone. Especially B A . Maybe with Augeri. Not now. They WILL NOT take this step back with BA. NO WAY. If they do then career over. Forget any new albums unless he replaces a Cheap Trick as the front of a 3 card ticket. He is now a photographer because people would rather see his photos than his shows. And I never have taken a illegal drug in my life. Congrats on the super bowl halftime show. Thats Playing It Safe.

I won't even dignify this garbage post with a thought out response, other to say, Arnel is a superstar? That is just stupid to even say that.

You have any idea how many people will be watching Bruce on February 1st? I like you man, but you aren't too bright with the rose coloured glasses on.

Sunshowaa is the gayest song if ever heard from Journey Friga was wearing a dress when he wrote it

but if you place MC Hammer on the score board at a NBA game everybody would know him also and I wouldn't place him in there class either but he is or was a SUPERSTAR. If Selena was on the same scoreboard everybody would think it was a "Crowd Shot" but she was a SUPERSTAR. I was simply referring to his talents not status. If you would say this on his board you would be strangled with about 2 million misguito nets.

Actually TT, I don't believe MC Hammer and Selena were superstars. To me at least, a superstar; like him/her or not, is world renown. Selena was a star in her native Mexico. MC Hammer was a star in the African American community especially and a somewhat in the general populace, but I doubt he was known worldwide. Take a shithead like Beckham. You know the soccer fag with the hot wife. Everyone knows him, and see, I never even mentioned his first name.
