Arnel is going to wear out his welcome over there and here if he isnt careful. All the Journeyoke as someone so perfectly put it is bad IMHO. People will get tired of ANYTHING if it is over exposed. I think he is being over exposed big time in his native country and I hope it is not his management trying to milk him dry. He is new at this game, lets hope he is not naive.

AP said his favorite songs are Winds Of March, Patiently and one that I've never heard him mention before, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever. Perhaps a new setlist is coming on this tour. It would be nice.

I've mentioned a lot here and over on Arnel's site that Why Can't This Night Go On Forever is on my wishlist, so that would be good news to me. WCTNGOF and Patiently are in my top five songs right now. I saw, too, on his site where his friend said those songs are his favorites. Beautiful songs. And, yes, a new setlist including songs like that would be nice. I might as well be greedy and wish for People and Places, too. :D

I think we have the same wishlist! I've noticed though that Journey's official website and Neal's have not
been updated since last summer. Only Arnel's has the latest information with the news that Journey is playing the
Superbowl in a couple of weeks and that they have some shows scheduled in Japan. What's up with their
websites?

I think it's just laziness, or they don't want to pay someone to keep it updated..as difficult as that may be  Honestly, the management company should be responsible for this, but who knows what type of on-going full time operation they have. I think it's just a case of knowing that they can get the word out when they need to, so why put money into something that really is just a minor marketing vehicle for them at this point.

I think they're just happy to cruise along in second gear right now. Slowing down the touring, John mentioning before that they wold rather release EP's than full albums. They've got money and their getting old. Revelation had its run, but from what I can see, Walmarts not even printing new discs and really why should they. If you haven't bought the album by now no need for them to press more copies. I think the band realises this as away for them to go out on top. Trying to match Rev's success with no second filler disc to inflate sales numbers. AP seems happy doing his thing on the side, I can't blame the band if they want to go on AutoPilot. How do you top your last success? No youtube/poor boy/Greatest Hits pack in Disc this time around. They are like a fighter who comes back for that one last fight. They win and they're pumped up to restart their career but then they slowly realise that their win wasn't by knockout this time and their body is taking longer to recover from the blows. What to do? Riding off into the sunset might seem like a good idea now to the boys. Not abruptly but casually over the next year or so, on the wings of their small, but self satisfying triumph with Revelation.

If he can pull off WCTNGOF, he's going up to the 11th rung on a 10 rung ladder as far as I'm concerned. That's got to be one of the toughest songs to do vocally in the catalog.

By the way, do you need an activation killer for Windows 7 or are you good to go? I've got one if you need it.

Yeah, it shuts off the expiration but really no need to use it for most of us. There should be a better build by August anyway.

At least he's dressed decently. Now they just gotta get him out of those converse looking sneakers and into some decent shoes or boots where he's at least as tall as his singing partner.

Regardless, good PR over there for the band. If this ever goes on here in the states, I bet Perry himself will have something to say about it.

I believe this isn't the first time that you've mentioned this, and I don't mean to put words in your mouth, but it seems like you would prefer that they retire. Personally, I love the vast majority of their post-Perry work and this tour proved that there are still thousands of people who want to see them even without the Voice among their ranks. I'm proud to say I'm one of them; of course, I'm only 17 and have only had the chance to see them three times. So I hope they stick around for several more years.

Yes, you are correct on that. I've seen them in their hayday and I've seen them once with AP. My big disappointment was them only playing three Reve songs. FITH doesn't count, it's just another cover. If it's only going to be Steve Perry dominates setlists, then I can watch a tribute band for a lot cheaper. If someone hasn't seen them at all, then by all means I encourage them to go, but if they aren't supporting the product I paid for at Walmart. what is the point in me going? Imentioned before how on the Escape and Frotiers tour they played at minimum half of their new album and I wish they would have kept doing that. I don't need to hear Anytime being sang by two diiferent people other then the Perry/Rolie, why not play TDTWT or a new song? Have faith in your material. They've been telling us how good Arnel is, well, let him sing his songs already. I went and showed my support and if they have a new album come out, I'll go again PROVIDING THEY ACTUALLY PLAY THE MUSIC FROM IT instead of the same old Perry Era Material. The sad part is they look like they want to Sweep Steve Augeri under the carpet, but he is the only reason the band is still around after TBF. It would be nice if they played something from Arrival if they feel that they just have to play older songs. Im' happy that you enjoy the band though.
Most new fans don't even seem to know there were albums before Escape. If AP didn't cover it with the ZOO, it doesn't exist for this new group of Journey lovers. But those albums should be bought, no ttheir material played live instead of new songs. Play seven songs off of Revelation, and I'll go to another show. Fill out the rest of the play list with deepcuts from Infinity, someTBF and Arrival and it would be great. Just stop playing the same 12 songs over and over please. If the fans are true Journey fans, they'll show up and buy tickets regardless if it's not the hits.

I agree. But I'd say that there are people who want "the dirty dozen" from every band, not just Journey. And I also agree that they should play newer or more obscure songs. "Don't Stop Believin'" blows more cock than Jenna Jameson or Tera Patrick combined and I'm tired of hearing it (along with "Open Arms", ect.). That said, if you don't like it, the ready option is simply not to go.

Your wish is to deny all of us the experience to see Journey. And I don't see why. Kinda selfish, no? :) :P

Yep. I just hate to see them come down from this high if their next work falls flat. But it's only my opinion and i'm a tiny fish in a big pond. Luckily this isn't the official Journeymusic Board and I can actually express my opinion with out getting nasty notes from the moderators. Of course they'l ldo what ever they want and you'l lhave a good chance of enjoying them for years to come, so don't mind my ramblings.

Rick and I just had a discussion that touched on this. Your reference to the Escape- and Frontiers-era suggests that you've been a fan for a long time, so you have the first hand experienced that someone who is relatively new to the Journey fandom such as myself lacks. That said, while its hardly been an even keel, I've never really listened to a "flat" Journey work; even Generations had some kick ass moments.

I appreciate and respect your opinion. That said, I hope to fuck it never comes to pass.

I've got assume a few tagalog songs at least. The are plenty of popular Filipino ballads that are completely in English that they will probably sing also. If I remember right, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YOU LOVE ME was one of Lani's big cover hit in the Philippines, so it will probably be sang.
Thanks. I'm going so I'll report back. Got killer seats, too.

I just read where AP said in an interview for his show with Lani in Guam, that he will NOT be singing any Journey songs with her. Those songs are reserved for his shows with Journey. Arnel said perfoming them with Lani wouldn't be feasible.

It's been a little over a year now since Arnel hit the deck running with Journey and I am amazed at how popular he has become in the Philippines ever since. Had Arnel never joined Journey, none of these talk shows and game shows in the Philippines would have had him on their show. It's like none of these famous people in the Philippines gave a damn about Arnel until he was a member of Journey. To me it's sad because it took him over twenty years to rise to fame status. He was always a talented singer and showman, not just after joining with Journey.

The moral of this story is that good things happen to good people. Had Arnel chose to take the path of least resistance and make a living of crime and corruption like so many do in third world countries, he would never have made it to where he is now. Over the years, I was close with many extremely talented musicians in the Philippines, but they turned to crime and corruption and over the years they dried up and just blew away in the wind.
