Neither can I. You reacted impulsively and jumped into the fray without reading any of it.
Why?
I'd like to know that myself.
Arnel is a great singer who I like and respect.
Agreed.
He is not Steve Perry, and never will be.
Obviously, and for a multitude of reasons not limited to different names, ethnicity, and biology.
I'm not knocking him, but he's just a shadow of Perry.
Of Perry in his prime. Not Perry as of TBF.
You can call him better on whatever level you want to (breath control, range, power), but does it make a damn bit of difference?
It does.
Hell no!
Indeed?
It's all subjective when it comes to vocals other than range.
Indeed?
See how many people buy a solo album from Arnel, then see how many buy Perry's.
Yes, using the Rockindeano patented logic. This has fuck all to do with how talented and how skilled a singer is. I refer you to Bob Dylan and Mick Jagger; guess they're better than either Perry or Arnel.

Steve Perry has something so unique in his voice that it has touched hundreds of millions of people for nearly 30 years.
This is relevant how?
They've tried to replace him several times, and while the other singers were (and are) great...they're not replacing that magic that he brought to the band.
Relevant. How.
Be it inflection in his voice, tone, range, power, songwriting...there will never be another Steve Perry.
Songwriting? Again; Jim, meet Bob Dylan.
And Gideon...you can kiss my ass!
Charming.
Shame that we're at odds now, I'm rather fond of you.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'
