If anyone bought this for a second, congrats on being an eternal optimist. And a little loony. :P

Oh, I think even the non-loons had a secret twinge of hope here.

I had goosebumps and all my bodily hair was standing on end. My heart was racing, I was having major anxiety and the only thing I didn't have was a boner.

This dude didn't ruin shit, Ray! There's simply no way Perry wouldn't have pre-conditions and a mountain of "do's" and "dont's."

Good point!

Looks like radio station Krater 96 was a little premature too. They are now saying the show has been canceled.

Sounds like a nice little covert promo plan starting to take off.

Steve Perry will not be performing at Pipeline Cafe as was announced this morning by Pipeline Cafe's owner and manager Greg Azus.

"This morning everything was all set, and then we got word from Perry's management company that it's not going to work out after all," Azus said this afternoon. "Everything was confirmed and signed, but I guess one hand didn't know what the other was doing, and it fell through. We'll be sending out an official press release tonight."

The concert was scheduled to take place on June 25. Tickets were scheduled to go on sale Saturday.

I have to say one thing. I'm sick of the freakin' secrecy with Perry. I'm over it. If you're working on a new album, then say so and not have every little post by a musician or remark stricken and backtracked by said person. It's weird to me. This is just one more nail in the bizarre Michael Jackson type secrecy that Perry is surrounding himself with on working on new music or singing live. Now backing out of this. Sorry I had to vent.

I agree, but on the other hand, if he would have been singing for lets say the last 20 years, we all would not be as dramatic and fourthcoming concerning SP. Let's face it, he's like no other, and when i state no other, i mean no OTHER. He's a icon and a badass who had a ungodly talent, even probably as we speak at 60. But not hearing him for so long, i think benefits him. Hmmmmm.

Do you think that's why Neal made that statement on his blog? Maybe he got word of this beforehand and wanted to quell any rumors before they started.
There are a lot of Journey fans out there that are still big Steve Perry fans (talking about with Journey, not solo). There is a good reason why they didn't put a forum on the new Journeymusic site, the place would be in lockdown mode right about now.

I think you read that wrong...don't think he was busting on Hugo at all..he was just saying that because people were expecting Perry that they might want to book someone that looks more like him..
( although personally I don't think Hugo looks a lot like Perry at all).

My question is, Why in the world (if this is true and was set, ready and scheduled) would SP cancel it. After so long, what good could come from it?

That's good to hear. The man deserves to end his career on a high note and I wish him the best. The way he ended his solo career and his Journey tenure was, at best, pretty sad. I'm all for the guy going out on top. And I still say that the last time he walks off of a stage it will with Neal Schon at his side. And that's the way it should be. Good luck in 2009 and 2010, Nostrildamus. :)

Acutally I think he was attempting to smack me around for thinking Jeremey is better than Hugo...which is fine.

And when Nostrildamus decides to release his new album here is the guy that will be his right hand man:

Randy Jackson, a Grammy Award-winning producer, is a 20-year music industry veteran. He started out playing bass at the age of 13, and got his big break when he joined the band Journey. Randy also spent eight years as Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records, followed by four years as Senior V.P. of A&R at MCA Records.

Randy has recorded, toured and performed with the likes of: Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, *NSYNC, Madonna, Elton John and Destiny's Child, among others. He has worked on over 1,000 gold and multi-platinum albums. His contributions have helped to sell over 200 million albums worldwide. With his talent, immense studio knowledge and record company experience, Randy is one of today's most highly regarded music industry experts.

I think he needs something stronger than Tylenol......look at the attention this created, what will happen when and if it does??? This is the power of Perry.
