The backlash from the world wide association of loons?

When you have 5,000 FRIENDS, it's a little difficult to keep things in house I would think.
If anything, it's helped liven things up here tremendously.

I would assume that Neal believes in having kids in wedlock. Albeit a few times.

Nice signature quote....you come up with that one?

Having had numerous converstations with them, not ONCE did any of them dis his talent...his ethics, drive and motivation...sure...
Oh horseshit! Anyone has the right to live their life and say "When" rather than self distruct. The band had no right to make themselves so dependent on him. How dare you question his ethics in comparison to the way the others have lived their lives? Many would say that his drive and motivation has kept the band in the publics eye for many a year now.
I personally didn't question his ethics...however being part of a band is being part of a team...if a person is a lousy team member then the rest of the team has every right to call you out.

Steve Perry's favourite baseball team was in the World Series and he was attending a game - that isn't jumping on a bandwagon.I'm not a sports fan really, but if I had the opportunity to be at any World Series game, I would go too - and I would be up and singing along to one of my all-time favourite songs. A lot of teams use DSB as a pep song - it isn't like they have to play it because he is sitting in the crowd. And of course he is going to get up and rally the fans for the Giants - in case you missed it, Steve Perry co-wrote the song and it's still his voice blasting out of the speakers, so he has every right to do so. If they turned the camera on him and he were shown up on the big screen hunched down in his chair not singing along, THAT would look bad.
And when he "celebrated" with the White Sox he was a fan of them too? Bottom line...he said Journey was cracking the stone for continuing on without him, yet they've made 4 albums.......and he only pops up when one of his teamS is winning the world series. I actually have no problem with what he's doing, I have a problem with what he's doing in light of what he said.

Pineda is in the band b/c he can insultingly "ape" Perry, having not created Squat, diving from the drumset to the beat of someone else's music, and traveling around on a karaoke tour copying as many artistS as possible, yet you have issues with Perry, creator/co-creator, choosing baseball "teamS"?
"Bottom line" he helped build the band and he was/is entitled to his feelings. They "made 4 albums", but what do they have to play? Maybe one day the band will write Pineda some hits and he will have his own "30 year" old songs to sing. Then Neal won't have to "swipe" at Perry in fear of his taking the spotlight from them.

You could say Journey, Styx and Foriegner all followed the path laid down by REO with Hi Infidelity as Paradise Theater, Foreigner 4 and Escape all changed their formulas to a more pop sound than what had been featured on previous efforts.
Hi Infidelty didn't just hit #1, it dominated the charts in 1981 as far as rock albums go.
Rick wrote:This is all pure speculation, but I'm guessing Perry's his own worst critic. I would bet he can still sing pretty well, but maybe not quite to the level he's comfortable with. He's admitted to being a perfectionist, and is obviously an emotion driven person, and I'm thinking it would be really tough for a guy like that to get up and sing with musicians who can still perform as well or better than ever, and have seen him at his best. It's easy as hell to restring your guitar and sound good as new, but it's not that way with the voice.

I'm guessing he was extremely driven for approval after his dad left and rejected him when he was seven years old. He found his gift to sing and discovered that it could be used to gain the approval of others. He then used it to gain the world's approval in a subconscious attempt to fill the void that losing his dad's approval left in his soul. Once he reached superstardom and got the approval of the world and it still didn't fill the void, he got burned out and withdrew back into the private person that he was to begin with.
Just a guess.

Well said. You're right, Neal is again digging Perry for not singing. I guess it's okay to retire from any other professional career except for singing.
