I'm still trying to wrap my head around how 5 shows constitutes a tour ... much less one worthy of embargoed press releases and so forth.

Surely there is more coming?

There are probably festival shows coming though that obviously wouldn't be part of this package deal. Granted If they sell out all five venues, that will be 70,000 tickets sold but yeah, all the drama for this announcement would make you think they're playing a fortnight at the O2 or something.

Just heard Mick and Neal on Planet Rock. Neal said he just found out about these shows. Mick seemed pretty excited, Neal a bit quieter, besides a backhand swipe at the person he refused to name. Thank God Mick had some class at least when talking about Lou.
No news of extra dates yet (the presenter did ask that question).

For some reason, I got the impression that Schon was not expecting this package tour.

You Journey Fans, can't please you for anything!!
"Bitch, bitch, bitch ...why even post?!?! Give these legendary musicians some respect ...they
are just tryin' to feed their families doin' what they love to do best ...w/their new King ...
They're going to take over the world and you should be pleased to be taken!!" :D

I am looking forward to checkin' out someone else's new singer ...if that happens!!
I do like the idea for the name of the tour ...The Replacements!!!

CLASSIC... we just saw the Eagles a couple of weeks ago now... .. (amazing live by the way) and they called their tour the assisted living tour... LOL... When I paid for the tickets I called it ---the 401K tour... for them...

I like the Replacement title for for three bands that all dont have the original singers... one great thing though about all three bands... KILLER TUNES...

I don't know if Styx qualify as replacements as Tommy has always sang a lot of his original songs during their setlists.

EXCELLENT... INCREDIBLE... song after song after song... a few james gang thrown in from Mr Joe Walsh... well worth the money!! My first time seeing the Eagles... never wanted to pay the money...but glad I paid the $$$ to see and hear the music... almost a 3 hour show...

i would prefer a co headline instead of triple bill though
maybe journey/chickenfoot.
or throw in a hard rock/heavy metal band to draw a different crowd, maybe tesla
hell even billy squier would be a change of pace, saw him last year and the set was good

Triumph is done, at least with Rik Emmett as their vocalist. That window closed. I don't know if it was because they couldn't get the right type of touring deal or if Rik was just waffling about really returning permanetly but it seems pretty much dead in the water now.

Not true. Rik Emmett told me in person when I talked to him a few months ago, that he was all for reuniting and touring Truimph. He said that Gil declined to do it. He said that Gil likes what he is doing now but if the money offered to tour was good enough he thought he might change his mind. So that is on Gil and the amount of or lack of offers and his lack of desire to do it...not on Rik.

Rockindeano wrote:This is laughable. Sorry to come in and piss on your parade, but another multiple act bill? I thought Journey was going to play big arenas all on their own? What happened to that idea? Also, three acts? Good luck hearing any new material from Journey. The set times have got to be limited to about 80-90 mins max. This is going to suck. Whoopie, we get to see the dirty dozen rushed yet again. I can't live without hearing those songs again. For the true Journey fan, this can't be exciting news.

And to the Styx downers. If any of you saw the Main Event tour, they kicked the living shit out of Journey. Styx can flat out bring it live.

You're right...This news does not excite me in the least. yawn

I'm sure when the new album comes out you'll see the headlining/arena/one opener type show...This looks like nothing more than a cash tour...

I was at the main event tour....Styx was solid, Journey bored me, and REO (can't believe I'm saying this) blew the roof off the place.

only half!!

Postby gordon » Fri Nov 19, 2010 4:24 am

just bought my tickets for journey/foreigner/styx at newcastle arena. When you go to view your seating they have set the venue up to only accomodate it at half full.Capacity for this venue with it fully open is between 10-11,000.so only looking at about 5,000,which is what they did the last time they played newcastle.
