The boys are sounding alright. It's not the best night for Arnel, but he's giving it all.

Definitely sounds like he's singing in a lower key...

2 nights in a row.... AND a shorter set list... could something be going on? Could he be sick? Or is it just that they are playing too many nights?

OTY's unnaturally gay use of keyboards aside, Arnel sounds great here.

Funny how different people can hear different things

He's struggling. You should hear more evidence of it throughout.

City of Hope sounds fine..... if only I liked that song!

Sounds like he smoked a pack of cigs. His voice is fucked.

Hopefully it's just the change in acoustics due to the newly emptied seats!!!

Listening here in Arkansas. Only the Young playing. I think he sounds somewhat like he has a cold. Struggling with higher notes. Having trouble breathing in the right spots. But I am still enjoying it!

It sounds like he is running around a lot. Maybe someone needs to tell him that the energy is great but he needs to concentrate on singing the songs first.

I am especially when I have heard him sound a million times better. Sounds like he can't breathe

You should be in Cincy tonight..you can't breath...humid as hell..

Do you think it's the weather for Arnel?

I hear all the issues I've always had a problem with concerning this lineup. However these live feeds can be brutal. Most at the venue will not notice any problems or care.

For example, when I went and saw Steve Augeri recently I had a blast. Heard flaws on youtube after the fact but in person it wasn't an issue at all. It's rock and roll. Shouldn't be flawless.

I thought humidity helps a voice... and it's dry weather that hurts it... but then I'm not an expert!

Could be either but he clearly isn't breathing right. He is hitting the notes but he is totally winded for one reason or another. Damn Dean can hit those high notes though :D :D

Ed, why does it seem like you've spent more of your lifetime in a concert than out of one?

To an extent, because the voice needs to stay lubricated. Unfortunately, whatever advantage humidity affords a singer, it puts that person at a disadvantage at in other capacities. Consider the effect it has on the body through sweat and exertion, etc.

I think the problem is that I am a couple of beers back from where I usually am when Journey hits the stage.

He's continuing the momentum on Send Her My Love; great job by the band.

Send Her My Love is sounding killer so far. Didn't think about the weather, if it's anything like it's been here in KC,Mo then it's got to be a factor.

Yeah, true! I've seen many a concert with what I can GUARANTEE you is higher humidity here in Florida though, and they ALL do it. But then I don't hear it through a sound board! I'm going with the idea that in person, it wouldn't have been as obvious this was happening! Though we also heard Kelly sing, and he didn't seem winded like this..... but he is a different person and it IS different music!

Agreed. Glad they threw it into the set. I wish they'd put some of the moodier Journey songs in, like IBAWY or WCN.

Me neither, but it's fucking hot and nasty outside tonight.

You guys are whiners! I was up there this week and walked outside for an hour in the afternoon...... if I did that here I'd collapse and be unable to breath!! Then you all complain when you have a long cold winter too!

It's definitely not just the humidity at play here.
The difference between Arnel and Kelly as singers and frontmen is that Arnel has natural gifts Kelly does not. He's a stronger singer, he has a higher range, and he has more energy. Kelly, on the other hand, has polish. He's a master of applying his (relatively) limited strengths to their maximum capacity. So instead of running around on stage like Perry in '81, Kelly works the stage like Soto or Augeri. And unlike Arnel, Kelly's not hitting the same manner of ridiculous high notes.

Arnel has the edge in talent, Kelly wins by a landslide when it comes to polish.

And that's all that counts isn't it.

All that counts to me. I don't go to concert to hear the music perfectly. I go to hear the band LIVE. Anyone who has ever sung before an audience knows you won't be on top of every song, every note. If you don't like live, put a CD on and quit going to concerts!

Love that part ........GO Neal! Stone in Love! :D

Great show so far though. No fucking way Foreigner blows them off the stage.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
