So bringing this thread back to the "original topic" which was about the Houston DVD/CD, it sure is fantastic!!!!

Lori

How could it NOT go in that direction when the VERY FIRST POST started it down that path. But the direction was not changed until PF redirected it! So talk to her...

The thread STARTED off that way, but no one had anything to say about that until MY post. Stop trying to redirect. It's not working and it just shows you for what you are...inadequate when it comes to intelligent discourse.

Houston DVD?
Wonderful at $13.99

Generations CD?
Excellent at $13.99 (or $32.99 for the import - I have both)

Journey's current and continuing musical legacy?
Priceless

antiJourney?

I'm definitely a Perry/Journey fan, so I would certainly not say antiJourney.

It's my right to like whatever music I like, as others should like whatever music they like.I don't hold any anger towards others for having different tastes in their music.

By the way, my dear sweet Fred, I don't have to insult people with name calling in order to make myself feel important, such as you do either.

Deano,

I may or may not have already told you this before, but I have seen the current Journey in concert right after Perry & Journey split apart. I also have the Arrival Cd & the 2001 DVD Augeri/ Journey. The music is alright & Augeri is alright too.

Please take no offense here, I'm not trying to be mean or insult the current line up, but I just prefer Journey with Perry. However I do really appreciate your generous offer though.

Lori, now that's what I am talking about. That I respect...There is nothing wrong with that.

However, I will say Augeri sucked right after the breakup...he is 250% better now...I wish you would see him now..amazing.

However, IMO, the music now sounds better...just fuller, meatier and overall, not as tinny...

Now, Lori, do the right thing and ask for Generations...No one will take Perry away from you if you like Generations..It simply is a great CD...

So why did Neal and Jon hire a guy who, in your opinion, sucks?

It's decent. Points get deducted for it's awful track listing. Tracks 1-4 are solid, 5 is passable, 6 is junk, 7 is good, 8,9, and 10 are all great songs, but they should've been spread out more. Together, the hard-edged rock block become indistinguishable from one another and even becomes sort of grating. They needed to insert something more melodic between those tracks. 11 & 12 are great tunes, as well.

I think Steve Augeri's stage presence on the 01 dvd is alot different from the tours of the past 2 years. He has grown in leaps and bounds and really brings the audience in when he sings,.
It would have been good to see the entire concert on the 01 dvd
and not the short version.

They cut out Message of Love (bad move on their part. The song absolutely smokes live.)

They also cut out the Live & Breathe intro to Wheel in the Sky. Live and Breathe is a horrible song and I, for one, am thanful they expurgiated it from the dvd.

As far as I'm concerned, "Live and Breathe" is the "Believe" of Arrival. Simply a terrible song. With the "yeah, yeah, yeah" chant replacing the equally redundant "I belive, you believe, i believe, you believe".

Lori,

You really need to hear Gens. I'll ALWAYS prefer Perry, but I've come to respect and enjoy the sound of the new music.

Fred,

Get over VH1. It took me a while, but I've put it behind me. We've all grown and changed. Please don't bring that old war back. We've become a cohesive group here and you can fit into it. PF and Lori have a right to their opinions and they don't necessarily have anything to do with the past that's between us. They were legitimately offended by the "retard" thing. It bothers me too, but I know that things aren't always very PC on this board. I generally hate PC, but when it comes to insulting a helpless segment of our society I get a little sensitive too. I've been a substitute teacher and I've worked with those beautiful kids.

Sorry if I sounded preachie. I know you didn't bring the word into the mix. :)

Respectfully,
Sherrie

i don't care who sings it as long as they make me feel great when they sing it. perry was amazing and i have heard augeri and he's also great; so it depends on the night and the song if augeri is feeling it and it makes me feel it as well.

You still don't understand.

I was not insulting the helpless. I was referring to the people on this board who I KNOW are not retarded.

With all due respect, think about it.

Lori, not only did that fall totally flat, but your own verbiage just bit you in your shiny metal ass! :) Please read your above statement again, will you? No, I mean REALLY read it...for meaning. I'm going to let this one go...for now...though it's literally begging for a response.

By the way, where in this thread did I see you directly take Free to task for the first use of what you have said is the derogatory label, "retard"? Hypocrisy serves you well.

Get over VH1.

I got over it quite a while ago.

It took me a while, but I've put it behind me. We've all grown and changed.

I don't really see the evidence of that, ohsherrie, judging from people's posts to each other. It still looks as though PF and Lori are here to cause disharmony as they did on VH1 and other boards. I haven't brought any war back. Apparently, it's been here all along.

...We've become a cohesive group here and you can fit into it. PF and Lori have a right to their opinions and they don't necessarily have anything to do with the past that's between us.

This is what you consider to be cohesive? Okay, if you say so. Interestingly enough, I lurked here for a while before I posted recently and from what I read, this is a strange way to show cohesiveness.

Yes, PF and Properry have a right to their opinion, and so do I.

And what is this "past that's between us" business? Who is "us" that you're referring to? Are you the ohsherrie that gave me nothing but trouble when we were on VH1 and on THIS board when good ol' Journeytroll and his cronies were here, or are you a different ohsherrie?

I notice that you are busy defending PF and Lori, but aren't willing to say that I have a right to my opinion. And of course, this post by me will be seen as terribly argumentative and will serve to ignite a fire. Nonetheless, you've done nothing in your post to me to mitigate the negativity. You've accused and assumed, while defending your pals.

Good for you, ohsherrie. You were a substitute teacher. I spent ten years in the public school system and numerous summers teaching learning AND physically disabled kids in high school. Ever change a 13 year-old's diaper?

All kids are beautiful by the way, not just the learning or physically disabled. It's just easier for some to "love" the disabled because as you say they are helpless. Yet, when you talk to them, all they want to be seen and treated as is normal.

Sorry if I sounded preachie. I know you didn't bring the word into the mix. :)

Right, and once again, even though I did not bring the word into the mix, I notice how many people did not take Free to task for the first use of it, but took me to task instead. What hypocrisy...

It's interesting that you somehow believe that you have my respect enough for you to offer me advice. You don't. If you're the same person that I'm thinking of, that war that you speak of was brought over to this board from VH1 by you, PF, Properry, Heardonthestreet and a few others and most of that was directed at me because my SIN was that I had the temerity to come to believe that Journey has the right to exist separate from Perry and I could wish them BOTH well and harbor no ill will toward either. That wasn't good enough for some though because I should love the one and hate the other. Now, I am accused of not liking Perry when in point of fact it's his narrow-minded followers with their inflammatory attitudes that I detest.

I now notice that YOU have listened to Generations and you LIKE IT? Wow, so it's all of a sudden OKAY as far as you're concerned to be a Perry AND a Journey fan because YOU are one? Interesting, but when it was ME in your position, you had nothing but venom that you spewed in my direction on a daily basis.

And even now, you are accusing me of bringing the war over here from VH1 when in point of fact, YOU and your cronies brought it over here! Un-freakin-believable.

Respectfully,

Right ohsherrie...right.

That would have been an intelligent decision on your part. Funny how I'm constantly attacked as being arrogant (among other things), when in fact, you have been partner to continued attacks on me, my character and my opinion over the past few years and yet, one patronizing post from you is supposed to wash that all away because you've come around to hold a similar view that I have held where Journey is concerned. What absolute and unmitigated gall.

When you say you'll ignore me, that's wonderful, but if you choose to resort to the childish act of REFERRING to or BERATING me or my posts while talking TO one of your cronies, then I'll assume that you no longer wish to ignore me and are inviting me into the ring.

All the reports on the internet refute that, Dean.
Perhaps you were in the bathroom when they played it?

This website reviews the show and says they played Message of Love.

This site also reviews the show and says they played Message of Love.

From http://www.journey-tribute.com/journey/ ... ecent.html

"The show was recorded for release on DVD later this year. The set list for the show was: Separate Ways, Ask The Lonely, Stone In Love, Only The Young, Higher Place, Send Her My Love, Lights, Who's Cryin' Now, Piano Solo, Open Arms, Fillmore Boogie, Message Of Love, All The Way, Escape, Raza Del Sol, Guitar Solo, Live And Breathe (intro only), Wheel In The Sky, Be Good To Yourself, Anyway You Want It, Don't Stop Believin', Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin', Faithfully."

No, go back one page. We are talking about the old Vegas dvd. They cut a few songs from the show.
