Um, okay, so was nobody else struck by the resemblance yesterday of Dick Cheney in a wheelchair to Mr. Potter in "It's a Wonderful Life"????

THAT was the real story...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Obama tackles recession, war and ethics on day one
By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent – 15 mins ago

WASHINGTON – In a first-day whirlwind, President Barack Obama showcased efforts to revive the economy on Wednesday, summoned top military officials to chart a new course in Iraq and eased into the daunting thicket of Middle East diplomacy. "What an opportunity we have to change this country," said the 47-year-old chief executive, who also issued new ethics rules for his administration and hosted a reception at the presidential mansion for 200 inauguration volunteers and guests selected by an Internet lottery.

They could've posted the same thing about Bush and you probably wouldn't have thought twice about it. Regardless, it's all just window dressing. He hasn't actually done anything about it yet.

No...but they were being VERY cautious...understandable given the wack jobs out there that would say "He really isn't the President because he messed up the oath."

If I may answer...

No; he didn't.....but,

Yahoo! News wrote:...Craig, the White House lawyer, said in a statement Wednesday evening: "We believe the oath of office was administered effectively and that the president was sworn in appropriately yesterday. Yet the oath appears in the Constitution itself. And out of the abundance of caution, because there was one word out of sequence, Chief Justice John Roberts will administer the oath a second time."

The Constitution is clear about the exact wording of the oath and as a result, some constitutional experts have said that a do-over probably wasn't necessary but also couldn't hurt.

He will have more than his share to live up to, as many of you have already said, but I'm sure he will be succesful. It seems to me at least from his inaugural adress that he has a vision clear in his mind.

I really hope he does something, the bad US economy is existing alongside an equally poorly European one, and the two certainly are interconnected. Many, many companies here are laying people off, even my company is feeling the effects of the present crisis. I hope Obama can kickstart not only the US domestic economy, but set something in motion that will benefit the global economy.

No singling out Obama on this one, but this is the problem. Should the President/government have that much power and control that they need to be the ones to improve, run, control, and determine how the economy is. Shouldn't we have a limited government that has little power, really only defense and maybe a couple of other functions. Wouldn't it be better if we had a true free market, that would still have cycles of up and down but be more consistent and in our own hands?
The free market has dickholes that can do what they want, and stay in there fuckin fancy pants NY apartments, when they should be in jail getting plug by big sweaty mens with donkeys dic s tito, my man has already called them retards in the middle east to talk, not just threaten them and act like fucken John wayne ia weatern you ball face

Obama did make reference in his speech to 'personal responsibility'. I hope he forces more of America to retreat from the sense of entitlement and believe in personal responsibility. That's what improves our existence...many iotas.

Two things on the flubbed oath. Obama jumped in early the first time and then both he and Roberts flubbed. Anyway, the thing that chapped my ass was not only did he get a free pass for the flub but the media (at least locally in Chicago) said it was no big thing and other people have done worse things. Although all of this is true and it's not major in my eyes, the thing that pissed me off is Bush got blasted for his fumbling of speeches, etc. but Obama gets a free pass and even on air excuses. Where's the consistency? Had that been Bush in 2001 or 2005, that would be on SNL and everyone would be making fun of that but for Obama it gets brushed off. Don't get me wrong, Bush is a motherfucker but again where's the consistency. Just by what we've seen in the election season through yesterday, I can't wait to see all the critical media coverage of Obama.
You are a Flub,is that the only thing you can come up with numbnuts???There will plenty of time for my man to be made fun of.That sandwich you made must have not agreed with you.Bush has fumbled his complete reign not just his retarded mouth. Im at least glad you watched it. I can see you know sitting on your pink beanbag chair watching it on your 13 inch black and white TV that had since you were a young flub . He even had your relic over for diiner the other night. He problablly cut his food up for him you dick gobbler

You're a retard.
Just like Obama Im a winner. I told you he was gonna win,i like the shit out of Biden to, hes got balls bigger than your head Tito

I knew Obama was going to win back when he first announced. I called a 40 state landslide and I was close. People like you are the problem, you blast the government but you like a 36 year veteran of the Senate - a total insider despite what he saids. That makes sense.

Did they have to - probably not because I don't think anybody would not consider him the President. However, was this the correct thing to do - yes. It's in the Constituition. The Keith Olbermann's of the world who say he didn't have to and he was the President at noon is only half right. Yes, the time he became President is at noon but he also has to take the oath as well. Also, leave to that jagoff Olbermann (who I couldn't stand when he was doing Sportscenter 15 years ago) to blame Roberts for the screw up. They BOTH screwed up. Obama jumped in early and then they both flubbed the oath. As bad as Limbaugh is (and understand the hatred), Olbermann is 10 times worse. At least Maddow isn't too bad but unfortunately it seems she's starting to take a couple pages out of Olbermann's book. Hopefully, she doesn't go that much farther with that.

Obama probably also did this for political reasons. He has rightfully blasted Bush for disregarding the Constitution, so he probably felt he had to follow the Constitution to walk the walk and I have no problem with that. Hopefully, he has strict interpertation of the Constitution, but judging by his policies he doesn't.

I hate this guy. I couldn't stand him on Sportscenter. I was probably the only college kid in American who hated that show (because of him). When he wasn't on, it was a great show. He is such a condescending prick and outright jagoff. Even if I agreed with him, I wouldn't stand this cocksucker.

"God Bless President Obama..."

Actually, God Bless The United States of America! We need all the blessings we can get after all those in the various offices (Republicans and Democrats included!) left us to deal with. The average American is who is suffering the most right now and we need those in office to bless us with their dedication to completing a goal, their willingness to put aside differences, and their commitment to putting us first for a change.

I pray for us! :D

Mistake 1. Obama jumped in early
Mistake 2. Roberts fucked up (I don't count Obama's pause as a mistake).
Mistake 3. Obama then flubs it.

I hate McCain and did NOT vote for him. In some ways I would rather have Obama than him. Really wouldn't be much of a difference.

You want to talk about bad blood, you can't tell me there isn't something going on between Biden and Obama. I've noticed for awhile there seems to be some coolness between the two but that episode yesterday proved it to me. When Biden had to come back up to the podium to give an oath to the second group, there seemed to be some tension already. Then when he made the Roberts comment, you could tell Obama did not like that at all. I'm sure Biden's wife slipping saying biden was offered the Sec. of State or VP position probably didn't sit well with Obama's camp. Biden's ego has probably been hurt by him being left in the distance shadows and not included in a lot of Obama's activities. I wouldn't be surprised if Biden is a one term V.P.

Ya, I saw that scowl on Obama's face and him grabbing Biden's elbow after he made the joke about Roberts' memory. I'm thinking Joe probably got an ass chewing after that.

I think Biden can wear on people quickly. He's spent way too much time talking about how he told Obama that he wants to be involved in every major decision that Obama makes, and be the 'last person in the room' after important meetings. Uhm. You are the VP...shut up and go hide until someone dies. We'll let you know.
