Even now, the headlines proclaiming "FIRST UNITED STATES DEATH FROM SWINE FLU" are misleading because the boy was sick in Mexico and came to the US for treatment... Media bombast as usual
Yep, heard that this morning. And yet where's the headlines about the approx. 12,000 who have died from the seasonal flu so far this year? There are none, of course.
Well, perhaps they will get enough blood samples or whatever from the poor little boy to incubate a serum to make a vaccine which probably takes 6 months.
Didn't think that many died from the good ole regular flu's. I know most who die from the flu's have a suppressed immunity, elderly or are otherwise health compromised & the body is not able to defend itself naturally.
Best thing I guess is to slowly be exposed to all these things & to allow our bodies to create antibodies that will continually protect us as we can not hope to live our life in a bubble & its actually better to have a gradual immunity to these things than to walk around with face masks on & wearing gloves.
I can see doing it if you have to come in contact with a known sick person but should we really be worried about going about our daily lives with fear?
It does seem to appear that this flu is like the many others that most will survive unless they are already health compromised.
It would help all of us if anyone with the flu would just stay home rather than coughing, sneezing & touching everything with there contagious germs.
I was ready to sport my surgical mask & safeskin purple nitrile gloves at Trader Joes/// but it would seem wise to carry a face mask & gloves just in case you come upon a coughing sneezing germ projectile.

NY...the subway...where trains are like cattle cars though even cattle have it better. Where you are literally squashed into one another like a huge globule unable to move but a fraction of an inch. You get swept in an out the doors when they open like the tide...oooh its fun...
Yikes, subways are the worst...We have them in CA now & durung rush hour they too can be crowded though nothing like the NY experience...
