Yep, heard that this morning. And yet where's the headlines about the approx. 12,000 who have died from the seasonal flu so far this year? There are none, of course.

I hope they've been treating you well on here but I ask you not to reply on this thread as it's not one to hijack and send off topic and certainly not one for a lengthy reply either

Well, perhaps they will get enough blood samples or whatever from the poor little boy to incubate a serum to make a vaccine which probably takes 6 months.

Didn't think that many died from the good ole regular flu's. I know most who die from the flu's have a suppressed immunity, elderly or are otherwise health compromised & the body is not able to defend itself naturally.

Best thing I guess is to slowly be exposed to all these things & to allow our bodies to create antibodies that will continually protect us as we can not hope to live our life in a bubble & its actually better to have a gradual immunity to these things than to walk around with face masks on & wearing gloves.

I can see doing it if you have to come in contact with a known sick person but should we really be worried about going about our daily lives with fear?

It does seem to appear that this flu is like the many others that most will survive unless they are already health compromised.

It would help all of us if anyone with the flu would just stay home rather than coughing, sneezing & touching everything with there contagious germs.

I was ready to sport my surgical mask & safeskin purple nitrile gloves at Trader Joes/// but it would seem wise to carry a face mask & gloves just in case you come upon a coughing sneezing germ projectile.

States # of laboratory confirmed cases
Arizona 1
California 14
Indiana 1
Kansas 2
Massachusetts 2
Michigan 2
Nevada 1
New York 51
Ohio 1
Texas 16 1 death
TOTAL COUNTS 91 cases 1 death

NY...the subway...where trains are like cattle cars though even cattle have it better. Where you are literally squashed into one another like a huge globule unable to move but a fraction of an inch. You get swept in an out the doors when they open like the tide...oooh its fun...
Yikes, subways are the worst...We have them in CA now & durung rush hour they too can be crowded though nothing like the NY experience...

In these hi-rise office buildings with no open windows and everybody sharing a main coffee station and bathroom, makes the difference between one or 2 having the flu instead of making it's way through almost everybody. A little cold or flu is one thing, but to listen to somebody in the office next to ya coughing up a lung or horking loogies all over the place, no thanks. How productive are they anyways in that condition. K, rant over. :P

How much is CNN paying you to spread this fear?

Assuming a 30% illness rate is silly and there will be MANY interventions, if needed, with quarintining and anti-virals.

OK, but if you're just going to post media driven, scare tactic, fear mongering, we can all find the stuff you're posting. There is a complete other side of this that can also be posted. We've all got internet access.

Post away, this ain't my site it's Andrews. I'm just posting news headlines from around the world.

I'll let people do their own research. When this dies down and goes away, will you post the same positive headlines from around the world? Just curious, because I never saw you posting headlines from around the world BEFORE this happened. Just curious.

And everyone know's who site it is. I'm just wondering about the fixation on posting all of the negative headlines.

Someone asked me today if this could be a test...to put responses to the test. Sounds far fetched to me, but anything's possible I guess. Worth a tiny ponder. Guess time will tell.

It just hit our state today but still very scary. A friend told me that one of her co-workers came in to work with a mask on, some laughed at him; but if he feels the need to wear the mask, then so be it. IMHO, it's better to be safe.

Btw, I cannot believe the fucking circus the media is turning this shit into.

Don't be sheeple, people! This is not the first time the "pigfluenza" has been in the States.

SARS, Avian Flu, and now Swine Flu.

Let me know when we get Fish Fever and Three Billy Goats' Gruff Syndrome!! :D

This is what people need to keep in mind. You dont' die from the flu. You die from complications due to the flu, such as Pneumonia. I am willing to BET that in Mexico, with healthcare being what it is, and some of the poor conditions that they do not have a way to get treated like other countries. So yes, the death toll will be bigger. They not only don't have access to all the anti-virals we do, but they also do not have access to the treatments for pneumonia either. There WILL be cases of deaths in all countries, because not EVERYONE goes to the doctor when they feel that sick. Many people wait until they end up with pneumonia and then sometimes they die.

Same with the immunocompromised, elderly and small children. They have weaker immune systems and they develop pneumonia quickly. So if you do not recognize when symptoms are that bad, yes there is danger of death which is why we have the 36,000 other cases of flu deaths each year. I would only worry if they were saying it was a resistant flu, that did not respond to anti-virals, though most normal people have immune systems that will fight the flu and they will get over it normally, like any flu or cold. We aren't getting the whole story on these deaths. We aren't hearing if the they are immunocompromised, how long it took them to seek treatment, or if they were even treated at all. I can't BELIEVE the media and governments are allowing this kind of panic. But then again, it's human nature I suppose.

The economies are going to suffer and I feel BAD for the Mexicans who are losing all of their tourism money which is SO important to their economy and livlihood. I fear with all of the drug violence they have seen an increase in the last year or so is only going to get worse and I find it very sad. And our own economy will suffer now too.

True, but most of the people who have died were between 25-45, which is the scariest thing about this strain.

And all of them have been in Mexico, and didn't seek help in a country that has subpar healthcare.

Biden put his foot in his mouth again...recommending not to ride in airplanes or subways. He is an idiot. (If your comeback is...well Cheney was a bigger idiot...you're an idiot too. I'm weary of that comeback. He may have been an asshole, but not an idiot. Biden is a full blown bonafide idiot.)

The worst thing that ever happened to this country is 24 hour news. Thanks Ted. These talking heads make such a big fucking deal over things that I won't know when to believe it when there actually is a crisis. Chicken Little for sure.

I do not claim to be an expert on this...actually know very little, but it sure seems a little overblown. Let's see... there are over 106 million people in Mexico, 18 million in Mexico City alone. There are about 2,500 hundred confirmed cases throughout all of Mexico. This may indeed spread...but come on folks.

I guess this could be a good test for a real scare though.
