I'm going to see Journey in eight days, and let me tell you this much - if Arnel doesn't sound like a Steve Perry clone, I want my money back. I fully expect him to try to sound as close to Steve Perry as possible... and the only reason I paid for tickets to this show is because I know Arnel will do a good job impersonating Steve Perry. It's no different than if I was paying to see an Elvis tribute band in Vegas... the singer had better sound like Elvis, or he won't have a job very long. You can say that Arnel, Steve Augeri, and JSS all want to sound like themselves... and that sounds great on paper... but that's not what they are getting paid to do in Journey. The fans and the band are paying them to sound like Steve Perry.

Is it Perry, or is it Arnel? Is it butter, or is it Parkay? The whole idea is that the customers won't be able to tell the difference.

I don't agree at all, i can only speak from my personal experience, i' been in a Journey concert with Arnel as their vocalist, i think he got a very different voice, i can't compared him with SP; Perry was perfect in his prime and his sound was unique, high, soft, controled voice...arnel voice seem more strong and energetic, great for a more rock style, for other part JSS seem for me the most different voice from all this singers...
I don't expect Journey play with a vocalist that sound just like Perry at all, that would be so boring and i enjoyed their show a lot; Arnel is doing a wonderful job with Journey, all his concerts with differents rock/metal bands and reviews prove it..hope to see them again here in Chile!!
