I hope so. I really hope so. I can't imagine any regular fan of the band not loving this. Might frighten a few off though!

Just want to say thanks for posting all this info on Eclipse and as long as the lyrics aren't vulgar (which I would HIGHLY doubt) and not some weird spiritual "guruish" mantra, I AM IN!!!! Bring it on!!!

I may have just opened up the door for a beating now with my guruish comment. We shall see.

You deserve a beatdown just for using the non-word guruish twice in the same post.

I really don't believe the economy is as "bad" as people like to say all the time lately. I see LOTS of people shopping all the time, I see LOTS of brand new cars on the road, I see LOTS of brand new houses popping up in neighborhoods all around here... people are spending left and right, it can't be THAT bad

Going to get cheapest seat tics since lawn is still $40! For LAWN. Ridiculous!

If you're hardcore fans outnumber your casual fans, prices aren't an issue. Roger Waters sold out three shows at Staples Center with extravagant ticket prices. Bon Jovi continues to sell out even though everyone complains that all of their packages are some of the highest in the industry. AC-DC is another one that doesn't lower prices but continue to fill the expensive venues without problems.
U2 is probably the only huge act I've seen that have gone ahead and kept prices modest even though they could probably get away with gouging customers just like everyone else.

Oh I know concerts aren't cheap anymore, haven't been for a while now, I just don't see the lawn as "cheap" either at $40, lol.

Tickets for the Cleveland show just went on sale today.

The most expensive tickets (Not counting the VIP packages) were $135.00 each.
The second most expensive were $95.00 each.
I bought the $95.00 ticket, so my total after all of the bullshit charges was $117.00

It's the last time I pay that much for a concert ticket, unless maybe it's a Journey farewell tour?

I only payed as much as I did this time because Journey are in a tie for my favorite band, Foreigner is my third favorite band, and Night Ranger are my fourth favorite band.

Plus, I'm psyched up about the Eclipse CD.

Journey has no identity, and hasn't since TBF. And it's sad, really....

You don't want it to be good.

Wrong. To me, this is like going from RATKOS to ELAHE....ROR being ELAHE, and the last 4 albums/EP have been RATKOS.

I wish Journey would get their asses together and realize their legacy. An SP-led Journey with a diminished voice is better than the trash they've been releasing for 10 years....sorry.

OK. So you don't like Journey in it's current incarnation, we know, we get it, your done. The new SP album should be out in around....

Just an FYI: I find it cheaper to haggle with huge incentives and low interest every couple of years on a new car than spending $2-$3k a year keeping an older car running with repairs and maintenance.

It doesn't matter what you do with cars, there's always a payment....the only question is if its monthly and fixed or not.

$2-$3k a year??? For "repairs and maintenance"???

ECLIPSE is a MASTERPIECE.

There...I've said it.

The difference between Revelation and Eclipse is the same difference between Generations and Revelation. It is simply stunning.

This has been on daily constant rotation for a while now....it has plenty of time to sink in or wear off and it simply gets better and better. It's RAW though...well mixed, with so much going on, but it has such raw energy.

As Don quoted from my Twitter feed - it is heavy....but VERY melodic. The constant wall of guitars on this record is unbelievable. EVERY song features wailing solos and rocking riffs. The songs are LONG. Most over 6 mins, a few under.

The live YouTube clips are MUD compared to the finished product.

It is one of the boldest, bravest moves I have heard from a classic rock band. Maybe EVER as far as a band of this age. There are so many twists and turns, it is almost progressive in places. This record will likely scare the shit out of middle-America and the Perryloon fan club members.

It's dark and moody and heavy, but melodic and uplifting at the same time.

It features some utterly amazing guitar work. Neal sounds like 5 guitarists in one on some tracks. So much to absorb. Deen is a frickin machine. He has never pounded so hard on those skins, not even in Hardline.

Arnel - fuck me. What a stunning vocal performance. STUNNING. His vocals are a MILE in front of Revelation (and how good were those anyway!).

There is no way this band could EVER have recorded tis album with Steve P. No offence to Steve, but it simply rocks so much and Arnel is pushed the outer limits of human ability with some wailing vocals. And you know what - he spends a lot of the album signing in his own natural timbre, not trying to be SP or anyone else. And it works so well.

The songs - not one week moment on there at all. Not one song I would ever skip due to any particular mood. It has to be played thru from start to finish every time - but you'll need over 60 mins to do so!

More thoughts to come - but this has to be considered a classic. Simply put - it is one of the FINEST albums I have heard in my time running this site and has immediately declared itself to be one of my favourite Journey albums EVER.

You know, Drew....

being the ever-present Journey pessimist....if this album does suck, the above words might make an unwieldy sandwich. Let's hope you're telling the truth. I'm still waiting for proof! ;)

seriously speaking, good to hear. looking forward to it.

actually its a good thing they didn't just put out Revelation II.they could've put out a spitting image of that and followed the same formula.good thing they didn't.this is exactly the type of album i think Neal has wanted to do for years and now it looks like it will happen.can't wait to hear how good it is on record and in a live setting.good to see them taking a chance here and doing something different.

Great, now I'm ripping my hair out waiting for this beauty to come out. Andrew's review is even satisfying in itself but yet, feels like a major cock tease, or worse, a cock block. I'll be ready for this one, waiting like Chuck Norris.

BTW: Got my lawn seats for the PA show. Anyone going August 27th?

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing.. $2-$3K a year would be like a transmission every year

I find people don't keep track accurately of everything they put into cars. Brakes, tires....you generally don't need to worry about if you lease or trade it in after 2-3 years and I tried driving used and indeed did spend in that range. Yeah, I had an intake gasket, head gasket...those kind of things over the years so maybe I'm unlucky. But even in my last car I needed a wiper motor, water pump and CD player (Honda CRV) once the warranty kicked...and at that point I decided to stop driving cars after 2-3 years. Also, its easy to knock off up to 40% off sticker if you're willing to aggressively haggle, which I actually love to do.

Jesus man what are you driving a Ferrari?

lol ... no shit. I bought a used 1995 Monte Carlo and had it for 7 years, and I probably put about $1,500, total, into it.

I don't have many maintenance costs. If a car so much as needs tires I trade it in.

How many songs did AP contribute to?

I'm happy with your perception of Eclipse. I can't wait to come up with my own.

Haven't plokked in awhile...I might have to say Kamusta to the peeps over there.

STILL THEY RIDE!
