well thats just it, most of the time, average folks are just happy to get a good shot. Hell, anyone with little kids knows what I'm talking about. You sit there humping your camera for an hour before the kid finally smiles at you and you press the shutter button, only to see that he/she may be smiling at you but he/she's also got snot running down his/her nose. Adults have this issue too. You may have a great photo of you and your girlfriend/wife, only to notice something wrong with the exposure or something weird in the background is happening.
Celebrities have the luxury of having a professional photographer and can afford to put their energy into picking shots for the basis of symbolism/impressions etc. If anyone thinks this is "just a picture" that they thought was the best one of the bunch, is naive. There's a purpose behind this picture, just as there was a purpose behind the fact that Neal Schon is listed before Jon Cain on any band literature following 1997.
