Pre-Frontiers there was virtually none. Frontiers started it and ROR and TBF were dominated by it.

PS You've no idea just how hard I work.

I've never understood this obsession so many Journey fans have with touring. You catch one, maybe two shows and hear the same songs you've heard for a quarter of a century and then nothing for a year or two.

An album on the other hand is the really big deal...and I don't give a shit what they call it but Perry, Schon and Cain in the studio together would be pure gold and everyone knows it.

Totally agree with you on the second point Matty, pure gold! But I've kind of changed my tune in the last few years on the first point. There is nothing quite like LIVE, (sure a great part of it is hanging with crazies that dig the same music you do  ) but there is just a raw energy you can't get from a CD! Mind you, might not be the best time to comment......I'm just coming off a JSS / Eric Martin high........from hearing some killer LIVE vocals last weekend! Life's too short.....you're favorite vocalists/bands aren't going to be around forever......enjoy it, is the way I see it! :D

Saint John...Roy Thomas Baker was the ultimate old-school 'throw in the kitchen sink' record producer. He was hired after producing those multi-layered, grandiose Queen albums - and recently he pretty much bankrupted the Darkness by bringing in choirs and bag-pipes and overdubs that took months to record and so on.

You might have got the impression that the early albums weren't heavily produced...because they sound like shit.....but Thomas was brought in as a big league name to do a number on this band.

Also...Perry never disguised the changes in his voice from 1981-1996. Had he still been a warbling and girlish tenor on TBF then your claim about 'smoke and mirrors' might have some substance...but there was no attempt whatsoever to deceive anyone that his voice had aged.

Saint John wrote:Come running to what? A guy who, in the last 22 years, created one album with the band and toured zero times? Without an ironclad guranteed contract with no excuses not to tour, this will never happen. Fort Snots doesn't have the guts to sign a contract like that.

You can come out with this dull corporate chat about contracts all you like but if Perry rang up Cain tomorrow and said: "Ditch the new guy and let's write some songs together like the old days" you just know Cain would crumble...

You're probably right Matty, but Cain seems pretty fickle...........loved Jeff at one point too. Interesting.......... http://youtube.com/watch?v=Qu9iM4wjr3Y

Yeah, isn't that video something? :( Personally, it makes me sad and pissed off at the same time.

It is a little sad, but bah....I'm not even pissed off any more. After this weekend, the last thing I would want to see him in.......is Journey........singing Perry's songs for the rest of his career. Now he can spread his wings. He got more vocal on some songs I noticed this time then from last time I saw a show of his........like that soulful motown-feel intro to I'll Be Waiting. I have a feeling I'm going to really like this upcoming CD. Soto at his solo, soulful, groovy best!

AMEN! Or should I say "Testify!"

Great example........Soto at his soulful best last weekend. The kind of vocals that make ya just stand there and listen. I like Arnel's voice, especially for Journey's more pop sound, but I just ain't hearing this kind of soul out of him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W3NKWXIiVE&feature=user

I've never either ... though with the way you go on about who wronged who, you'd swear you were personally there to witness everything and knew all the guys on a personal level. :-)

2) Your obsession with me, what I do at work, and the need to respond to my every post is becoming hauntingly gay.

While I recognize that we all dig a band that was big in the 1980s, the homophobic thing seems about 20 years out of date.
