Released only as a single? Cool clip, Rutsy on drums?

I think this is the other side of it.

Yeah, I prefer GNR doing this song as well.

Yeah, I had the album that this song was on....called "If I were a carpenter"

http://cgi.ebay.com/1-CENT-CD-If-I-Were ... .m14.l1318

That was one of the few songs on that album I liked. Another one I liked was "Top of the World" covered by Shonen Knife. Too bad that Shonen Knife didn't do a video of the song "On the Top of the World" like Sonic Youth did with "Superstar". And the last cover on this album I really liked was "For All We Know" covered by Bettie Serveert, nicely done.

I absolutely LOVE Clapton's version of this song.

Ok, I'll probably get blasted for this, but what about Donnas Summer's-The Wanderer?!

I prefer Show-Ya's cover "Blackbird" over the Beatles version, even though I heard the Beatles version years before Show-Ya covered it. I'm guessing I prefer Show-Ya's version because they rock it up a bit, and not just because of all that sushi up on the stage either.

I'd agree with this assessment. You can't 'beat' the original this time around and the only thing Fall Out Boy are good for is 'beating' each other in a circle jerk! I hear they have good rhythm!

Oddly enough, I don't care much for Simply Red or this particular song. That said, their version of this song is FAR better than the original!

I thought his head was going to explode during the chorus, he definitely appeared to be straining a little there. Oddly enough though I did prefer it to the original.

Here's a good 'un!

Firstly the cover -

Tim Capello - I Still Believe (from the soundtrack to The Lost Boys movie)

And the lackluster original -

The Call - I Still Believe

Remakes almost always suck compared to the original.

That being said, I prefer Telsa's "Signs" to the original.

I also like No Doubt on "Simple Kind of Life," but I'm not so sure it's better than the original.

Ashes to Ashes - I loved Roland Orzabal's cover better than Bowie's. I have both, and Roland stayed close to the original as it was on a tribute album and also included on TFF's B side album and collection album also. Though, YouTube doesn't come close to showing the great sound of this song and vocals on the remastered albums of both singers.

David Bowie -

Roland Orzabal -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6qlM49b5Uc

A song I didn't even know was a cover, but a friend told me the original was done by a well-known singer in England back in the 70s, Robert Wyatt, who was paralyzed when falling from a balcony while partying and recorded an album afterward with this song. I always loved this song because it was really unique. Apparently, it has been covered a number of times.

Sea Song - Orzabal - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFl7Yo84DTA

Robert Wyatt, older, singing it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cWq3mIp4cU
