How are you "watching" it?
It's off now. The link I provided had a live feed earlier. Rip had on a hat that people in rice fields wear...that's the only way I can describe it. Man, he looked funny.bluejeangirl76 wrote:Saint John wrote:lol...no, the hat he was wearing about 15 minutes ago. Please continue. I think SJ left off at 'you look like an armpit', and I think BS was last at 'you look like the last dog I made out with'....or something like that.
Pass the popcorn, please.

Who better than Randy Jackson to judge Arnel Pineda, the controversial choice for new lead singer of the legendary rock band Journey? Not only is Jackson a judge on American Idol, but for two years he also played bass for Journey. His verdict on Pineda, who has come from relative obscurity to fill the formidable shoes of former frontman Steve Perry? A big thumbs up – with a footnote.
"The guy can sing, he's great," says Jackson. "But no one ... no one will ever be Steve Perry. He's one of the greatest singers to ever grace the microphone." Jackson visited the studio during work on the album. "I heard a few songs," says Jackson. "I think they're doing really well." As for ex-Journeyman Perry, "He's doing his thing," says Jackson. "Steve's fine. I actually had lunch with him about a month ago. He's working on hot stuff, too."
Saint John wrote:I was just watching VH1 Classic and they confirmed that Perry will be releasing a new solo album at the end of 08 or in early 09. He was number 7 (I think it was 7) on their Top Male Voices Of All-Time.

If, I had a right nut to give; It would surely be a done deal.peridactyl wrote:Saint John wrote:peridactyl wrote:Saint John wrote:I agree 100%. I don't think anyone thinks Arnel is better than than Perry was, but he's the best thing for the band right now. Perry won't tour and that makes him all but completely useless to Journey. Journey is a live act. Steve Perry hasn't been that but once in 22 years.Gunbot wrote:What I'm saying is if it's going to be another TBF or ROR, I'd rather have Perry stay retired. Just my 2 cents but if Neal and Jon sold their souls to get Perry to come back and ended up putting out an “Against the wall” type album, I would be very disappointed.
Actually, SJ, it may shock you but I kinda agree with you. I wouldn't want Steve back with Journey, and Arnel is doing a good job for what Journey needs right now. I just wanted to poke at some of you guys who pretend that the interest in what Steve is doing is gone. I don't believe that. I think Steve created that magical something when he sang that can't be described but you know it when you hear and feel it. The attachment to him and his voice continues to exist, heightened by the drama between Journey and Steve and all the ensuing arguments over the years between his fans....And the cherry on the cake is the possibility of something new from the man, and the not knowing if it will be great or screechingly horrible.
I mean, this is great soap opera. Who wouldn't be addicted????Aren't we all loons for this stuff?
I have always maintained that Perry is the best I've ever heard and that hasn't changed. Steve, Neal and Jon certainly do have that "magical something" when they're together. But we can't turn back time and unless Perry suddenly found the fountain of youth I would suspect that his days of recording and touring with Journey are over. I would certainly love to see him perform a song, a show or a few shows with them. Everyone wants that. Well, except Tito.
Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure I needn't give you permission...) but didn't you say you wanted to see Steve rejoin Journey IF he apologized to them, but that he can't sing worth shit. So fagetaboutit.
Some of us actually like Steve's music without Journey--granted it isn't the rockin wonderfulness that was Shoen and Perry, but shit, that is over. Steve alone reflects Steve and that is a different animal. Steve alone is better than most of the crap on the radio today in spades. Come on.
It may be old fart music but...ahem....maybe we are old farts....And Steve can sing old fart music better than anybody....
(Something pathetic about old fart loons and old fat, balding Journey nuts. We shouldn't take ourselves seriously.)And we who proudly wear the mantle of LOON needn't be ashamed. We are just more honest than the male loons (maleloons? maeloons? melons? Major fruits in any case) who would give a right nut to spend an hour with the great Steve Perry.
(Should I duck and cover? )

Lora wrote:And this is exactly how the "SP keeps teasing us by telling us he's releasing an album but then doesn't" BS gets started. Some intern at VH1 was probably surfing the Net, read the comment from Mark Goodman and came up with this news flash. SP has never said he has a album ready for release. He has said he working on material and that is true. Until I hear it from him that it's in the can, I'm not going to take what VH1 (or anyone else) says as anything more than gossip.
