Yeah. He needs to stop his fucking solo spree. I'm really pissed and this may sound harsh, but the world doesn't give as much shit about Arnel's solo career as it does seeing him with Journey. That's how I am. I love his voice and love his personality, but I haven't clicked on one video of him without Journey.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

No.

And more to the point, even this version is on another level vocally from what we heard tonight -

Yes, he definitely sounded better than Augeri ever did on that song, with the possible exception of his first year or two with the band. That was always one of Augeri's worst vocal performances of almost any Journey show.

Neal was absolutely brilliant today.

Man, he really was awesome, and looked fantastic.

I thought so too - they should have put Neal on camera more often. Especially during his solo!

I so agree. Not enough Neal.

I wish they'd just kiss and make up! They could have a farewell tour this year with Perry, and call it a day. Maybe a 50 city tour, but make it huge and go out with a bang! I'd pay big bucks to see them with Perry (even sounding like he did in that clip). I'd take that ANY day over what they're doing now. Just saying!

Haven't listened to anything Arnel has done since joining Journey, except when AATY has come on the radio. I did, however, check out a lot of his YT's when he was being considered for the gig.

This was the absolute WORST I've seen him sing any song. It was a bad performance on his part.

Everyone is so afraid of being called a racist, it's mostly PG humor we use regarding him, even though we tend to go full speed on the other members. I didn't have any problem with Rip defending him. Rokken was the one that started the thread on AP's own site about his past demons. My problem is with the people that get offended if you joke even a little about Arnel. He's just another famous person and gets treated like the rest of the celebrities around here. The thread title was fucked up but it is fixed so no big deal to me. I'm just here having fun, I really don't judge anyone I meet on the net as we know so many people act differently when the don't have the cloak of cyberspace anonymity to hide behind. Myself, pretty much what you read is what you get. I am what I am. I don't go to other forums and use a different User ID or any of that other pussified shit, because of what I say here. I is who I is.

Well, I don't think saying he has a Potato head would be a racist remark  I really don't disagree with anything you just said either. I guess I just hate when people's feelings are hurt. Not Arnel's, being famous puts him in that spotlight, but fellow board members.

Who's feelings got hurt here? You've mentioned bits of two different somewhat controversial threads in this thread, which has nothing to do with those topics. Why do people keep bringing up the word "vets" as if it's a bad thing? I don't get it. You are a "vet" too, Lynn. I don't see anything wrong with missing the way things were, and stating so. I'm not ashamed to say that I much prefer the late '06-mid '07 era of my MR experience. Niggy shouldn't be bashed, even in an indirect way, for saying how he felt. And for people to keep on using "vets" in that manner, it might just be causing some hurt feelings as well.

Image

I've been pm'ed enough about this, and I don't know where L is, lol, but anyhow, I think the point is that no one really deserves any bashing for saying how they feel, period. If Nig shouldn't be bashed for saying how he felt, well hey on that same token he didn't need to bash Rip by telling him to "stop embarrassing" himself for saying how he felt either. Nor did anyone else deserve bashing for simply stating how something could be taken out of context. That's all 8)

Oh I guess to stay on topic...I didn't even see it, so I won't drag out my cheerleader skirt and poms-poms :P

Terrible

Postby CHELBEL » Mon Feb 02, 2009 10:33 am

It was so terrible he didn't even make me wanna sing along .... ..... which made my family happy, but I'm just sayin.

I figured he'd have worked harder on losing his accent for the old songs by now ... doesn't really matter in the new ones but it's audibly distracting to hear it in the old ones.

Sorry. I can't deal with his accent and the way he sang that song.

He may have the enough of the same tonal quality to sing the originals but I frankly hate the way it sounds. I am not a Perry apologist, I really don't love Arnel's delivery.

Jeremey would have sounded closer to Perry IMO.
