Andrew's initial post was not written to target anyone in particular - he just used a couple of examples of behaviour he wants dialed back. There is nothing wrong with the irreverent humour or criticising the actions of the band that you don't agree with - it makes this Journey forum the best on the web. However, some of the personal comments against band members have occasionally crossed the line or just gotten tiresome and it's reasonable to ask us to think before we post things that can hurt Andrew's business. What part of that is hard to understand?

Given MR's reputation and the popularity of this Journey forum, Andrew should have been able to get interviews with Arnel and the rest of the band, but it seems to me that Journey continues to want nothing to do with this site three years after Tapegate. Well things went south after Augeri and then Soto was let go. That caused a lot of heartache amongst fans - meincluded- and it took time to get over that. The personal attacks were plentiful at the time, but have diminished mostly....time now to knock those all out.

Arnel has proved himself and its time to move on.

Same old stuff man.....a person can only talk about the same album and the boots that go along with that same tour only so much. I can't talk about that stuff anymore. There is such a thing as talking about an album to death. I've posted shows here and there through the years, and I'm happy I did that back then. Now, I see this place like a "clique" situation. That takes the fun out of it. Not really sure why, but it does.

I joined the official board, out of curiosity more than anything else, about a year ago. The place was horribly one sided. Any mention of past members was discouraged. Any critique on the current line up was against the rules....which I can understand the band wanting a board that worships them. However, even though you welcome view points from all sides, when I do offer a "devil's advocate" view when people start trashing past Journey members and worshiping present members, I get the same "BT" like response. It's very cut and dry here. If you don't like Arnel, then you're racist. If you decided that the Escape era Journey line up is the best of all time, then you're labeled a loon and living in the past. It is very difficult to discuss this band without people getting all testy and offensive.

I realize you have had problems with AR in the past, and it seems to me like you guys seemed to have worked things out off the board. I just wished you could let him back on, of course if he chose to come back. There are a lot of great people who have left this board. It used to be so much fun.

Discussing Escape era never makes everyone a Loon, which isn't a bad word anyway. 90 percent on here love the Infinity/Escape era the best, including me. The loons are the self-described Perry Loons on here, loud and proud, drooling over his over move.

Fifty percent or more on here don't care for Arnel and that is made clear quite a bit. I've never considered it racist as of late. It's b/c there's too much bad history and preference of singers with the band. I definitely don't see any ass-kissing re the band and Arnel on here. Quite the opposite. Just because some of us enjoy posting their recent concerts and enjoying it many on here seem to resent that. In fact, some longtime members who still enjoy the band stopped posting for a while b/c of the extreme negativity when a new concert show was posted. My point was if you leave, who's left to enjoy this incarnation of the band. I do and I'm staying. Thank God, they decided to stay. too. And many times it seems we are definitely in the minority on this board. Oh, well. I guess that's what make this place tick. None of us can even agree on current state of the board.

I've been associated with this board for several years. I had opened this account recently, because I simply tried to change my email address on the old account, rendering it useless. I contacted the admin and mod, but nothing was ever done about it. With that said, this board is not the same at all. No disrespect to Andrew at all. I just know this board was a lot better back in the old days. People could disagree with each other back then, but we were still one big "family". They could party with each other off the board. I don't see that with those who post here on a regular basis nowadays. There are some here who are "know it alls" that I cannot have a decent conversation with. And believe me, I'm the type of guy that can get along with just about anybody. There are those who I've seen back stab their "friends" here. At one point, they went right along with AR, DCVader, Liam, and laughed at their jokes and posts. Then those same people turned around and called them racists for not liking Arnel. And Andrew, I am sorry to bring that up again and I hope you understand my bringing that up wasn't meant as a chance to "stir the pot" but just things I feel I needed to get off my chest.

I don't have anything against anybody on this board. I'm sure you all are good people. Just knowing what I know about several long time peeps here, and knowing how people like AR and his friends are considered villains here, makes it hard for me to enjoy this community. I think AR, DCVader, Liam, and the rest should be given a chance to be a part of the community again. At least for those who have only been on this board for a year or so. This board has been around a long time. Just because it doesn't suck the band's dick doesn't make it irrelevant.

The, band is playing the same the places it played in the past. The 2006 tour was just as big as last year's, actually it ranked higher on Billboard's list for the 2006 tour.

Steve Augeri also had an A/C hit just like Arnel did.
S.A. didn't have a three disc set with 10 new songs and 12 re-records on it, along with a DVD Selling for 11.99.
He had one disc costing 16.99. Considering the facts, Arrival did just pretty well.
You do understand that one million people have not bought Revelation, right? You get that each package counts as two discs right.
I'm Just showing you that the band hasn't just popped back onto the scene all of a sudden.
Did Arnel bring in a new fan base? Yes.
Will these people buy the back catalog, like Augeri and JSS fans did, probably not because they are more a fan of the singer rather than the band.
So the situations become a wash.

What's great about this place is we have the right to like Arnel or not or Perry or not or whomever.
For a lot of us Journey didn't start in 2007, it began a long time ago. For some the trip ended in 1998, others it ended in 2006 and for others 2007.
Every year one thing is constant though. Neal promises to rock harder, but never does and Steve Perry keeps getting paid as the band continues to push the older albums by not changing up their setlist.

I want to see what the new album brings and what Arnel can contribute.
Looking at Revelation, Perry, Augeri and even Jeremey Hunsicker all got song writing credits. Even Fleishman and Ross Valory's ex wife Diane get credits. But no Arnel.
I'm waiting to see what AP brings to the table on the next album. Can he write? Can he create a melody?
That's what I want to see. Or are we going is going to have the same old song and dance, 5 ballads , 4 pop songs and one rocker?
Is Arnel going to be the hired hand, called in when they're ready to record, with no input whatsoever or is he going to be a contributor?

Does this make me a hater? I don't know and I don't care. And that's what I love about this place. Here I have the right to be either as long as I keep it civil.

All loons are welcomed here, regardless of who is the band's current flavor of the month.
You can't really find that on any of the other Journey related sights besides here or JourneyrockUK.


ONE LAST THING. I think Arnel is a fantastic singer and probably a wonderful human being, but I'm obviously not going to buy an album for those reasons alone.
