I guess we were just never offered backstage passes. I just don't know how you can possibly not see that you were the biggest "ball licker" of them all, man. You were tipped off about the lipping and took the ball and ran. What you thought was the 21st century Zapruder film turned out to be about as big as a Toy Story 3 bootleg and got very little, if any, press and no one outside of perhaps 2 or 3 message boards gave a shit. However, they were forced to shift gears, changed singers and you promptly ripped Soto as being a terrible singer and not the right person for the job. But it only took him reaching out to you and a meeting over a beer for you to do an immediate 180. From that moment on you slowly started backtracking on the Journey hate and the disclaimers came at about a daily pace ... "Even though these guys made a huge mistake ... they're ok people ... even the Frig." You saw your path.

You then totally immersed yourself and ran with these "soul-less bastards that should rot in hell" from city to city, state to state and coast to coast. The ride was good for you ... you were able to have access a lot of people dream about but, in the end, you blew it. And, now, here you stand accusing fans of being "ball lickers" for merely still going to shows and posting positive views, but that is absolutely dwarfed in the "ball licking" department by your campaign to rip them down musically and personally, then switching sides for access, tickets and message board street cred, and then reverting (again) when they pulled the carpet out from under you. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but they totally outsmarted you. They lured you in, shut you up, made you sell your soul and what you believed to be right by dangling access, tickets and a few stories, and then tossed you off of the bus as they drove into the sunset. You can reminisce and try to change history all you want, but it'll always be Journey 1 and Dean 0. You, sir, have no right to call anyone a "ball licker."

God Damn, was that strong! Now let's see Dean's come back. This ought to be great! :D

Good post.

I am guilty of one thing, and one thing only. I was blinded by the access. If I were true to thy self as I am now, I should never have accepted the access and all the freebies. I admit freely now, that I "conveniently forgot" about the lipping sin, because I was having a blast. I am however right now, and my feelings are justified, but again, I freely admit that I was inconsistent in my "moral feelings" and should never have became close to them.

Yes, they played me, all of them. Good for them I guess. It surely doesn't make them better people in doing so. You seem to be happily running a scoreboard between Journey and Deano, and whatever floats your boat dude, have fun. I don't really care that I was "kicked off the bus." I never should have gotten on the bus. But I can tell you, even when things were chummy between Neal and myself, I felt they were cheapened by the scandal. I know it bothered them too. Neal said as much. Dan, if you really feel good about proudly claiming Journey as victors against me, well then good for you. However, regardless of "who all knows" what they did, YOU and many devoted fans DO know, and that stain will forever be permanent, and as much you want to "move on" it still is "there."

I know you band fans hate my ass for being sour on Journey, but I feel as an ex-hardcore fan, I was screwed. That shit broke my heart. I always thought of Journey as mega talented, and when this happened, anger was the way I dealt with it. Well the anger is still there. The only time it went away was when the Grey Goose was flowing and I was hanging with the band. It was a great time, a time not very many fans get a chance to do.

So there it is Dan. You have admittance of guilt. Journey wins! 1-0.

PS- Your post was almost 100% accurate. I don't need to reminisce about changinging history. Truth be told, I did change history, whether or not you like it or believe it, Tapegate happened, and it will always haunt the band.

As much as I felt there would be some sarcasm in your post, Dean, the more I thought about it, the more genuine it came across. Kudos! It is what it is and you didn't deny it. That takes a big man and I repect you for it. :D
