What is the excuse then for his piss-poor performance on the reality show, "Blind Date"?

I've seen that one. Bad, really bad, in fact, sadly bad. :oops:

Thanks for the thread on the early show performance... When I first saw it, I was like awesome, great to hear the guys... but seeing again 5 years later....whoa, that was not a good LIVE performance, does NOT pass the test of time!! ... they all looked like they would rather be somewhere else... and IS WHAT I hated about those earlyshow concerts... they were taped for showing about 3 weeks before actually airing... This summer Journey, hopefully will finally get on the TODAY show ACTUALLY LIVE summer concert series!!

Agree...nice post by stevew...thanks for sharing your honesty about this. I'm sure you were crushed in discovering it, but you had the open mind that is lacking in many fans. I was doubtful at first but took the time to listen & compare & read the many explanations & eyewitness reports. I listened to the Greek boot of "Place in your heart" on the computer along with the Gen CD in my ear started a few seconds after the boot...and I swear it sounded like an exact echo! There was no variation. And, having been present at the Greek concert & the first one of the tour, Irvine, I had some questions in my mind at the time before anything was said about "lip synching"...btw, it is believed that the lipping started a few weeks into the 2005 tour, but I sure wondered why SA's voice was so bad at Irvine on some songs & just fine on others, esp. the Gen songs? And, even more surprising how his voice was "just perfect" at the next concert acccording to the BT reviewers!?
Anyway, I do believe all the band is responsible for this, but SA should never have agreed as he was the one doing the actual charade. It is a mystery as to why this all came about in the first place...why didn't SA just step down? Was it calculated to get a nice settlement? who knows.

Thanks .It did really floor me.Idont understand why they had to go thru all this bullshit. I wish he would have stepped down earlier. I would have dealt with it better knowing the truth. I do feel it was a group effort also. I have dial up internet and have been unable to download complete concerts.Any clips would be appreiciated,either way I know what went on. I am a musician and should have known better,but I admit ,I drink at Journey concerts and sing along as loud as I can. What is weird,I would hear some really high notes being sung, that Ive never heard before.That s really got me confused.Where did that come from? And they wernt from Deen,.Anyway,I am glad this year is almost over, and look forward to 2007.Who knows what it might bring.{sorry for any misspelling}

I will say that morning is rough on singers whether they sang the night before or not. I have mixed plenty of good vocalists that at 9am were definitely not on their game. I did a live mix recently where what I would call an decent female vocalist flatted out fairly bad on her first morning performance. Two hours later she was in fine form and nailed the high stuff and in general had a clearer voice.

I think the more experienced vocalists know what they need to do in order to maxmize what they are able to deliver in an early morning performance. Whether that's spending even more time warming up or just staying away from the notes they know they will struggle with.
