And some of us are saying we would like to discuss Jeff here as well.
The people who have a section on here of their own haven't also been in Journey, so Jeff fits into both camps. Solo career and Journey member.
Why is that a problem?
At first it
wasn't a problem. Soto was a part of Journey and received all due accolades. However, after he was relieved of his duties he became fucking Elvis...a guy talked about in the same breath as Perry, Gramm and Mercury. It's just become ridiculous. And when you point out that the guy is a non-draw and has virtually no domestic fanbase you get
hammered as if somehow you're lying!!! Doesn't bother me a bit, though...not a fucking bit. I can recite factual statistics to back up
my arguments. Others have to rely on "just know that we
will be here to respond." Whoopty-fucking-doo. That doesn't put asses in seats or move records so I'll just keep hammering the facts while you guys recite tall tales and drink urine tasting Kool Aid while passing it off as lemon lime.
Hey, no problem that Jeff's domestic fan base is small and you won't hear me argue otherwise. All I care about is that I get a copy of his material and he continues to give concerts that allow me to be within three feet of him at all times.
I would love, for
his sake, for him to be bigger in the USA. But as far as I'm concerned he IS a
fantastic performer and I get "access" at concerts. Makes me selfish, maybe, but I'm quite happy with him, his work, and the small concerts he puts 1000% into every time.
And he was a part of Journey's history, just like Fleishman or Jackson or Baird or Tickner - the fact is he performed with Journey and that makes him part of the group. If I'm not mistaken, he toured for six months and was an "official" member for six months. Therefore, he is fair game for discussion on the Journey Board.
If Steve Perry had his own board here at MR, do you think all discussion of him would stop on this board? No way.
