After dealing with Nostrildamus, that poor bastard probably looks like Dr. Leo Marvin at the end of What About Bob?.

Leave him be, the poor guy probably suffers from chronic Danophobia. In fact, I dare say you are the single impediment to the bastard ever singing again. :D

I really like everything about She's a Mystery. I love the acoustic -like nature of the first part of the song and the great backing vocals is so reminiscent of Infinity era Journey and then love where the song goes to, such a surprise. Probably my favorite playing by Neal so far.

My girlfriend really likes it. Her music taste tends to side with the more eclectic/heavier bands, but I've pretty much forced Journey down her throat and forced her to swallow.
"Resonate" is our mutual favorite, though.

I've always said from the time of the concert clips I loved Resonate. It is my favorite, too. I agree with your top three songs in that order, but they're almost interchangeable for me as I love all three, Resonate, Chain of Love, and Edge of the Moment.

If you've got the hearing of an Owl, then they're might be some concern but the way it appears this album was produced/mixed, I don't think there are too many crystal shattering moments and maybe that's intentional as not to sound too light or poppish. The production, while really outstanding doesnt quite succceed in taking the crown away from that Holy Grail of Journey engineering TBF, which has a lot of little subtle sounds scattered through out the recording that encourages you to listen with source material of the highest fidelity.

Same.
The youtube clips sounded great, but they hardly did the actual song justice. It's a deceptively heavy song; the bass and rhythm guitar are very powerful.

"Edge of the Moment" is badass, but "Chain of Love" is just a better song and uniquely constructed.

Agreed.
But I'd speculate that it was a more expensive album than Eclipse.

Haha, yeah I did the same thing to my girlfriend. She pretty much has NO choice but to listen AND like Journey. Some people always give the "dude, you ruined my liking for Journey, you play them too much.." but I knew my GF was sold when she didn't tell me she bought "REVELATION" that I found a copy of in her glove compartment in her car 8) One of her favorite songs is "Sunshower" from Revelation because she's a sappy type kind of girl. She recently admitted she loves the J-boys and she'll be coming with me to get Eclipse in a couple days. Job well done on my part.

Great minds and all that.
Journey's my favorite band and is pretty much the only one who has dozens of songs that get routine play on my iPod and radio. I'm very picky about non-Journey songs.
She likes classic bands like Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and AC/DC. Also a lot of modern bands that I'd consider alternative or emo. But she's become a big Journey fan in the past eight months. Augeri's her favorite of the singers and she purchased our tickets for Nashville in September.
She also painted this badass painting of the Revelation cover for my birthday.
:)

editHoly coincidences, Batman! "Sunshower" is Ashley's favorite too. It reminds her of "Lights," which is one of her favorite classics.

Listening to Eclipse in the background, I've realized that the solo intro to "Anything Is Possible" is really catchy.

I'd say so. But there was a good deal of money spent in this effort too.The extra time spent in the studio, and bringing Arnel back to redo the vocals too.
Kingfish said "They have all these Layers, Effects out on tour with them, in the FOH console, and have hired some of the greatest live mixers on the Planet this year", so I'm thinking this tour won't be on a shoestring budget either.

Lmao, good stuff man (*cyber-air high-five*) She likes Sunshower because she's seriously obsessed with Sun 'flowers' and it reminded her of that and loves all Journey ballads. I even got her listening to JSS's W.E.T and she dug that as well. I took her to a Journey concert in '08 where we were front row. She was blown away by Arnel and absolutley was thrilled to be there. Back in 2006, I actually asked her to date me during "Faithfully" and ironic enough, we were on the big screen in '08 during Faithfully so that was neat 8)

S2M, it's a possibility. She's not really into all that hardcore drinking stuff. She really wants to go but I warned her I'll probably be gone out of my mind so she said she may let me have a "boys" night that night and let me enjoy it with my brothers and friends. She will probably be there, though.

It's good, but there are about 4 or 5 others that take the cake for me.

Yeah, I'm gonna hit up Little Tokyo when it drops in Japan and see if I can get a prettier packaged one, just for the collection.

If RUSH has a tough time with the segway from studio to stage, having to use all types of triggers and pedals....I have no idea how Journey is going to translate all these layers to the live setting....

I'd say She's A Mystery is this closest we'll ever hear Journey get to doing grunge. Swap in Scott Weiland or some other gravel voiced singer and this becomes an alternative rock hit.

She's really extraordinary... but I can't let her get a big head by letting her hear that.
Besides, from the sounds of it (music taste, favorite songs, and preference for sobriety), we're dating the same girl
