Steve Perry is #5 for top male vocalists for his time. Look it up. It is posted on the net. He's first in my book but to each his own.

Hi Toby. No offense, but Steve Augeri doesn't have much talent as a singer. I have seen Journey three times, and he is covering Journey classics. Now, let's see him sing original material that is due this year.

All I am saying is Augeri is just another singer with nothing special about him such a voice, charisma, hot model girlfriend/wife, looks, or anything else.

Vocalists are rated by their ability, in their prime, for vocal range, power, versatility, uniqueness, and ability to convey emotion.

Sorry Augeri! I don't feel that this applies to you. The above sounds like it applies to Perry tho.

Umm, considering Steve Perry is one of the best singers of all time, why would that in any way be a detraction? I wish most singers could sound half as good as Steve Perry. As Augeri has repeatedly said, all comparisons and noted vocal similarities between himself and Steve Perry are flattering and an honor.

Maybe, if Journey's sound system was better in concert, we could hear Steve Augeri's voice. Seriously, every concert I have gone to with Journey, I can't hear his vocals clearly. And it wasn't just me since the people near me on the floor couldn't hear his vocals either.

Uhmmmmmmmmm N.C. I think that you read my last two statements wrong. Maybe I didn't phrase it right. I'll go back and make it more clear. I was, in no way implying that Augeri sounds like Perry. You missed my exclamation point. Sorry you were misled.

Hey troll, ever wonder why Augeri can't be heard? I have been to hundreds of live shows and Journey's crowd is the only crowd I know of, that "outsings" the band. Every fan knows every word.....

That is a good thing.

I wish that was true. Instead, the music was way too loud, and Stevie Augeri's voice was drowned out. No one in my area could understand what he was singing. Instead, we knew the songs from the music being played.

It is true that Journey has had problems mixing the vocals correctly. Even on CD the vocals have been a little off. But I hope that will be solved this year with Mike Fraser engineering and Kevin Shirley producing. As for the shows, the guitar has definately been too loud...at least at the outdoor events. But the Under The Radar show I went to at the casino in Albuquerque was phenominal. The sound mix was excellent and that was the show I saw Steve Augeri emerge as the frontman Journey needs him to be! It was absolutley, hands down, the best I have ever seen Journey! I think Journey's music is aided by indoor acoustics...there sound manager seems to be more in tune for those shows...IMO of course. After all, it is not like I have seen every indoor show done. But when comparing indoor shows to outdoor shows, the indoor ones seem to sound better.

STEVE F ING PERRY was the BEST singer of alltime....

Disliking a band is fine, but you don't see me going to U2 Boardsd disrupting their charm, do you??

Steve Augeri HAS THE BIGGEST BALLS in music...You try filling the great Perry's shoes???!! I know Bono couldn't!!

Why are you bitter when I provide an opinion on Journey. Don't threaten me with a good time because I know you have a crush on me.

Why do you keep mentioning the other band's name here?

Correct me if i`m wrong but as far as i`m aware Steve Augeri only has 3 albums under his belt , "Tall Stories", "Tyketto - Shine" & "Journey Arrival"

all excellent albums, maybe with a few more albums under his belt , people will begin to count him in the best 300 rock/pop singers, for me he`s probably already in that list

I really think you're wrong about that Eric. Lot's of artists have credited Steve with being influential or inspirational to them. He get's photographed by the media when attending public functions. Patti Jenkens and Charleze Theron contacted him for help with their film. The only people who even know Augeri's name are the cult following that the current band has.

So who knew who Steve Perry was after one Journey album? He was a guy who was with a little known band called Alien before he joined Journey. Augeri is not as good as Perry, IMO, but he is no slouch. There will never be another Perry, but give Augeri another few Journey albums, and he will be well loved by Journey fans for his unique voice and personality, as Perry is.

You clearly know his name.
I take it then, you must be one of these aforementioned Augeri-cult followers?

Glad to see that you have finally seen the light.
He is, after all, a truly phenomenal front man.

Prove it.

I might can see where people wouldn't know Augeri, and I can see 16 year olds not knowing who Perry is - as they would more than likely not know who Mick Jagger or Steven Tyler is either. Except maybe by knowing they sing in a band.
Whatever happened to good ol' rock and roll?

By the time Steve Perry had been with them for 8 yrs they had sold millions of copies of six albums, had a #1 album, and become one of the most popular bands in the world. They haven't even had one respectably selling album in 8 yrs with Augeri.

And it's Augeri's fault Journey has only one full length CD and one EP in 8 years? Face it, today's Journey appeals to a much smaller audience than that Journey did, and still would even if Perry was singing for them today.
