Do you think Deen should have been standing on the bottom row of the picture, and Neal on first step? That way, they would appear to be the same height?

THE BAND

NEAL SCHON – Guitar
JONATHAN CAIN – Keyboards
ROSS VALORY – Bass
STEVE PERRY – Vocals
DEEN CASTRONOVO – Drums

Hey Dave! the way that I heard it about ROR was that the band had already gone their separate ways and the three had just decided to get together to do something and they hadn't even thought of it being a journey album in the beginning. Didn't they already have a lot recorded before they decided on the Journey name, which would be a reason for the different artwork? Is that some of ROR's history?

Wow. That's a new one.

Figures you regularly defend the ROR album (and the destructive creative choices which were made) while meanwhile truly not having a clue about the album's history whatsoever.

NO.
The guys got together as Journey: Perry, Neal, Jon, Ross, Smitty. It WAS a Journey record. Perry took control, fired Ross, later fired Smitty (after he contributed to 3 tracks), changed the title of the album, and changed the artwork. Herbie had the names AND artwork all done for the albums.

all you have to do is look at the end of the "Foolish Heart" video to know the above is not true. All of Journey is standing together at the end of that video. They specificaly did this to show that the band had NOT broke up and they were going to record another album together. Of course that ended up NOT being true...but in the beginning, that was the plan.

But Foolish Heart was on Perry's solo album, Street Talk, which came out before ROR. Isn't that correct?

NIG, that is the point. There were a lot of rumors at that time that Journey had broken up. They shot the Season's Greetings end of the Foolish Heart video to show the band together and happy. It was a way to show that Journey was still together and would record together.

To be honest, I believe HOTS knows the history of ROR. I have a feeling she simply wrote that post for a reaction. HOTS knows how to create activity on the board.

I deleted it. I felt I said all that I really needed to in the post above.

Just a week ago or so HOTS was defending the merits of ROR, including the reprehensible creative decisions of Perry, and now it turns out she is clueless on the album's history.
What a waste of time.
Obviously not even knowledgable on the subject of which she speaks.
Bah!

Well, as I said in my post, I am sure HOTS knows the history of ROR...
I don't know if that makes it better, or worse.

You are a VERY observant Journey fan, Dave!! Hottsie knows much more than she pretends to.

She also knows EXACTLY what she's doing! She loves pitting people against each other. She lives for it.

Maybe she's just craving some old fashioned attention.

NealIsGod wrote:Keeping in mind the trouble Journey had when songs from Arrival hit the internet before it was even released, I have to wonder what they are thinking with the plans they have for distributing the new CD only at their shows. You have to figure the songs will once again be on the internet before eager fans will get to attend the concert, and those fans will more than likely download the songs well before the concert, or worse (for Journey), instead of attending the concert. It seems to me that the way they are distributing it promotes illegal distribution by not making the CD available for purchase immediately. Do I have my facts wrong? I look forward to everyone's thoughts on this.

Why won't Journey sell the Cds in stores? Why are they trying to alienate traditional distributors? Journey should also make sure that the classic rock stations play their material from the new Cd.

Not everyone that likes Journey can attend their concerts.

Journeytroll

Distributors that sell to stores like to buy the product from the artist/label at 60 to 69% or retail price. This way the retailer makes money selling it in the bargain bin.

The retail is based on what comparable product is selling for in the geographic market. Then there are return/refund options, shipping to and from the stores/distributors, etc, which cost the label/artist money.

The new business model for many artists is going around the traditional system, making the artist more money than a dollar a disc, without having to sell as many, pay the payola (via the "indie") to the network programmers, etc. Maybe Journey is doing this. Has Jounrey announced a US label? They are using an indie label Frontiers over seas. That tells me that they are doing it themselves.

Anyone know the history of the scarab? How did Journey begin using it?

I believe Herbie choose the symbol because of it's meaning. The scarab pushes the sun across the sky. It symbolizes rebirth basically. A scarab loosely represents a new day, eternal. Seems perfect for a band like Journey, who is always evolving, being reborn, continuing...

Haven't you heard, silly boy; I am "Fred." And you shouldn't go making jokes about pacemakers, for you may indeed be the one who turns out to need one. What's that saying? "He who laughs last, laughs best."

Are you Hottsie also, or is she Y-O-U, since you insist on speaking FOR her? Or are YOU one of HER alter egos?

I was actually responding to comments made by Dave. You know who Dave is, right?

If you are Fred, hello. I'm not making fun of pacemakers. Instead, I read that Chrissy Payne just got a pacemaker. He stated that on Back Talk.

No, I am only Journeytroll. Some people still think I am Joe R., but I am not.
