You "doubt" that some will 'merit' this song. I merit this song. (If that makes sense) I think this is a good song (based only on a 2 minute sample). This may not be a 'great' song, but the tune is catchy, the vocals are right up front, Neal has returned to melodic guitar playing. These are the things I like. I don't like how much it reminds me of Ask The Lonely, but I love ATL so it sounds good.

That maybe true for some, but not me. And not most of the regular posters on this site. I DO believe it is more accurate to say that there are certain fans who will automatically NOT LIKE anything new by Journey, as opposed to saying certain fans will automatically LIKE anything new by Journey.

Just let me know when you start...

WHAT? I don't hear that at all. But, then again, I liked Arrival...so it wouldn't bother me much. If this is compared to Arrival, but with better production and better track listing (not too many songs/too many ballads) than that works just fine for me.

He has a name, feel free to call him Steve.

WHAT?
His vocals are right up front!! They fit perfectly among the instruments. Everything sounds equal, like a group.
Is it possible that you are basing this on the poor quality computer speakers in your monitor (or something similar)? When I listened at work, there was way too much treble, sounded tinny. So I only paid attention to the melody and lyrics. When I listened at home, with the subwoofer and good speakers, the song sounded much fuller. Much better!

YES, you could be. I will listen again to see if I notice that. So far, I do not!

No shit!
Oops, I hope JTroll doesn't come out and get mad at me for swearing...
I looked forward to some objectivity. I don't think I got it.
But, this is only a 2 minute clip, there is so much more to hear. To be honest, it is possible (although completely unlikely) that this is the best part of the CD. We only have a taste, I definately think it is good enough to keep eating...
