Yeah Perry is the only brain, the rest don't know what time it is.

If Perry "trained" them, as you purport, they would all be following the Pied Piper, and NOT be the leaders that they actually are. They would not be playing in a band named Journey; they would be waiting for the Piper to give them further instructions....

The guys in the band are not sidemen, as you try to brainwash...If you can't actually add anything of substance to this board (and you can't) WHY in the name of heaven are you here? Your mantra is as old and tired as you are.......

TWO QUESTIONS......

Where is Journey?

A: Just recorded a NEW CD and is touring the country, selling tickets at a fast clip...

Where Is Perry?

A: Whistling on a CD. Nothing of substance from him in years...CD whistling doesn't count...so we can't judge whether or not he still has "it."

 Hottsie, you just gave the word "ass" a new meaning.

But you said it was a fact! That is why I responded...it is nice to see you are recanting your ill-worded post and admitting that this is merely your opinion.

heardonthestreet wrote:Why can't I have a point of view as I realize the history of the band?

If it is history of the band, there is no POV necessary. It is all in black and white, documented for everyone to see. The problem is that you do not pay any attention to the history of this band...you have deluded every event in the history of Journey and contorted them to fit YOUR view.

heardonthestreet wrote:Admit i! It's a two week hack job.

Let's just pretend to take this seriously....it was a 40 day job, not two weeks. So you are wrong there. The quality sounds good, the songs are well-written and catchy. There are a couple of songs that are give or take among the fans, but the general consensus is that this is one of the best CDs Journey has recorded.

You continue to disappoint me because I truly thought you might be able to be objective about the CD. I even asked for you to honestly critique the CD. If you made good points about why you did not like it, I would accept that.

I see that is impossible for you...

Didn't "she" and I use the term loosely, say-

"Generations will definately not rock. You heard it here first."

Proves to EVERYONE here, she is pure, unsculpted BULLSHIT in a large sized pair of pants..

Oh thanks for getting involved Liz..I value your opinion and sorry for my choice of words but she PISSES me off....

Let's see, Schon and Rollie...Santana...well heck, we all know that Carlos Santana hires just "sidemen" too, right? I mean, c'mon, Carlos never lets his musicians or other vocalists shine, he hogs all the spotlight for himself and puts insignificant sidemen behind him, right?...*rolls my eyes*

..and Schon, I mean heck, what's with all those royality checks from Journey songs? My old roommate is a fairly well known stage tech, and was Pat Torpey from Mr. Big's drum tech when they were touring with Hardline. He heard Neal and the band talking about royalties. Neal was telling them how you have to make sure you get your royalties in your hands, and not let the record companies take anymore than possible. His example? He said he makes about $25,000 a MONTH in royalities from old Journey songs(and this was what, 10 years or more ago?). Surely "sidemen" dont make that much from song writing?

Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer in KISS are sidemen. ie: flate rate paid musicians for tours, not getting a "cut". The new guy in Metallica, as their video showed, signed a contract, was given a percentage, and a sign on bonus, ie: NOT a sideman. Hugh MacDonald from Bon Jovi? Still a sideman after all these years. He was never made an offical member, and is paid a salary. ...and if you watch thier videos, or look at promo pics, he is very rarely shown. ie: a SIDEMAN.

Just my 2 cents.

But, Perry does surround himself with 'sidemen' when HE has the choice. Randy Jackson and Michael Baird were both 'sidemen' hired by Perry.

The rest of the time in Journey, he had no choice...and he had no choice but to join Journey when Herbie called.

To continue this thread is just plain dumb. Anyone who can call other members of Journey sidemen. Are one of 2 things.

1. Just taking the piss to get a rise.
2. Too stupid to know better.

History is fact. Black and White as someone stated earlier. You're projecting your point of view of "the history of the band". This becomes revisionist history. There is entirely to much of that going around Journey boards as well as in the real world. That is my opinion.

You know with a post like this, you could get all bent out of shape, lord knows, there is reason too. But the fact of the matter is, thats exactly what someone like HOTS wants, she gets off on us getting pissed off and ranting and raving at her overexagerated comments.

Fact is, Perry is one of the most talented men to ever stand in front of a microphone. Thats a fact. Its just to bad his incredible talent turned him into such an egotistical bastard.

People say without Perry, Journey may never had been as famous, so what, I loved the first three albums and I remember many die hards saying Journey sold out when they hired Perry. Thats probably true, I wish they never would have, who cares if the popularity may not have come or may not have come as fast and furious. At least Rolie would probably still be around and we may not have have had the ten year disappearing act this band pulled because of Perry.

The bottom line is, we all know this band started out as five very talented individuals, and with all the comings and goings, we stand here 30 years later with five very talented individuals. Considering the way this industry is, I say thats not to bad.
When its all boiled down and the days at an end, I'll give you no bullshit and I'll never pretend.

Just to clarify what I said:

Randy Jackson and Michael Baird were never members of Journey. They were just hired hands.

From what Andrew said a while back, I think it means he's just posting crap to get attention and not to add anything of value to the conversation.
